Do the biometrics transfer from an old room key

with unused passes to a new room key? I know that old room keys have people's names on them, so it's obvious who they belong to, but I'm just wondering if the biometrics transfer - just out of curiousity.

Also, MYW tickets that were previously used but still have days on them and putting them on room keys for our next visit, will the biometrics transfer? Our MYW tickets have no names on them, but they were used by members of my family. If we check in to our resort next trip and ask that they be put on our new room key, will it matter if the same person has the right ticket put on their room key?

Tickets are non-transferrable. If the persons who used them the first time are not with you on this trip, you will be unable to use them.

Everyone will be with us - myself, DH, DS's and DD. My question is not whether we will be able to use our old tickets. The last time we went, we used non-expiry MYW tickets the last day of our trip, but did not note on them who used them (we are all "adults" and it was the last day.). I am curious if, when we check in for our next trip, when we ask for our tickets to be put on our room keys, whether they will know whose key to put which ticket by using the biometrics.

I don't really know what "biometrics" means. I guess the cm's at the front desk will be able to see whose fingerprints match to put the MYW tickets onto the proper room key?

They changed from two finger (biometrics), to one finger (fingerprint) this year. I'm not 100% sure about left over days on you ticket, but the change didn't affect AP's so your tickets should be ok. Just run them through the machine, and put your finger on the pad. Once you do this the first time, that ticket (room key) will most likely have to stay the person who used it, for the remainder of your stay.

Biometrics are stored in the WDW ATS computers, not on the ticket itself. When you transfer an old ticket (plastic or paper) to a new one (plastic or paper), the original ticket number is still referenced by the computer. It will call up the biometrics of the original ticket. You do not get the slate wiped clean by changing the media that the ticket is on. This is one of several reasons that Disney will not allow multiple ticket purchases to be combined onto a single ticket.

Biometrics are still used with the one finger scanners, not fingerprints.

Think of it like this: how accurate do you think the fingerpirnt would be if you have hundreds of people pressing their fingertips on a single plate of glass and never cleaning the glass between prints? It's still biometrics.

I will let you in on a little secret though. There are two sets of biometrics stored on old tickets - one from the two finger scanners and a separate one for the single finger one. If your previously used ticket has never been used in a single finger scanner before, you will create the baseline for the second one the first time you use it in a turnstile. If it was previously used in a single finger scanner, it will continue to call for that stored biometric data from the previous use.

Thanks, GoldenOldie, for your thorough explanation! You gave me the answer to the question I was asking. I appreciate it. I was wondering if we would have a problem with tickets and names on room keys if the name did not match the ticket placed on that particular key. Since we used the two-finger system last time, I guess it won't matter. I assume there must be a way for Disney CM's to know whose is whose at check-in, hopefully, so that there is no problem at park entrances. We usually use a sharpie to mark our tickets, but we didn't last time.
