Do taxis have car seats/booster seats?

I posted this on the transportation board, too, but haven't gotten a response there and I thought someone here might know the answer. We are going to Disney in August and taking Magical Express from the airport but on our way home, we are now thinking of extending our trip by one day, leaving the resort at the end of the day to go to a Holiday Inn near the airport and leaving the early the next morning from there. Since we are not renting a car, we would need to take a taxi to the Holiday Inn from Disney. But my daughter is only 4 and would need to be in a car seat/ booster seat. Do the taxis down there carry them in the trunk or anything? I don't want to have to bring one from home just to use it for one ride.

I don't know about Florida, but I have taken taxis in the City (NYC) and they do not. I don't think its the law to have a child in a car seat in a city taxi - I asked every taxi driver I saw, and they all said no.

No, they are not required in "cars for hire" (which is why she doesn't need one on the ME bus). We've found that when our kids get that age, a seatbelt adjuster (easily packed and available at Target) gives some extra security without needing to fuss with a carseat.

Sometimes in Orlando you'll get a cab that carries a carseat in back, but it isn't common.

You can also book a towncar, they can provide carseats.

We may end up doing this. It's really not any more expensive than the taxi - we just like the flexibility the taxi offers by not having to meet it at a specified time. But I really would prefer that DD be in a car seat or at least a booster seat for the trip to the Holiday Inn.

I personally would take a seat from home if there is a chance you will need the seat. Taxi's do not have them, although you might find a towncar or car service that does.

In November I was in Orlando for work, and had DS with me. I had not planned on leaving the resort, but did end up heading to DTD after finding out the town car type taxis did have car seats available (acceptable ones). These were more expensive than regular taxis. A trip from the Marriott World Center to Downtown Disney was about $25 each way.

There are little options in type of car seat though - so if you need a booster seat or infant seat vs a regular car seat, I'm not sure if they can help you.

Thanks, Katied! Can you tell me if you had to make any advance arrangements for these town car type taxis?

I'm not really picky about what kind of car seat - DD is still in a Britax Marathon at home, and even though she is actually old enough to go to a booster seat, I'd probably prefer to keep her in the car seat as long as I can, so the regular car seat is fine with me. I just want to make sure she is safe.
