Do side dishes count as an appetizer at Flame Tree?

I've decided to do Flame Tree as our CS while at the AK. How do the side items work in conjunction with the meal plan? Can I order an entree/side of fries/dessert? Or will the side of fries have to be OOP. I"m asking because I have a 6 year and he will want the fries not offered on the child's menu. I'm hoping to order them for me whenever I can and give/share them with him.

We ordered onion rings and they were considered a snack credit...
I'm thinking fries might be the same. The food was good at Flame Tree when we ate there, but they were inflexible about the DDP combinations, etc.

It sounds like you are asking what you will get for a CS credit there. It will be the standard entree , drink, and dessert.

However, the entrees at Flame tree don't come with fries on the side. The hot items come with baked beans and corn on the cob. The cold sandwich comes with slaw, and the salads don't have side dishes.

It may be possible for a CM to substitute the side dish for what you want, but it's not a guarantee. You should be able to use a snack credit though, since it's less than $4.

We ate there last month and Got one chicken and one rib plate. Both came with the beans and corn. We got a side of fries and were going to pay OPO and the CM suggested using a snack credit. Food was good, we split two meals three ways!

You seem to be confusing TS with CS a little. TS meals include an appetizer. Flame Tree is CS, and CS meals don't include an appetizer.

As others have mentioned, sides are not included on the Dining Plan unless explicitly included as part of a "combo meal". Substitutions of side items already included in your combo meal may be possible, but that would be subject to the same considerations whether you were on the Dining Plan or not, i.e., it would be up to the individual server's/manager's discretion and a positive reply is not assured. If a substitution would normally require an additional fee, figure that that substitution would not be allowed on the Dining Plan, even for the additional fee.
