Do seat assignments change?

I booked a non stop flight online with Delta and selected my seats. Am I guaranteed these seats?

Is the available seats that are listed on their websites accurate?

Nope, a ticket gets you seats not specific seats.

However, the only time I have had DL move me was when they had an equipment change. You can just periodically check the web site and make sure you are still in seats you like.

The main reasons you might be moved are an equipment change or a medical issue (e.g. a person who needs an aisle seat because of mobility issues or something like that). You could be requested to move to put a family together, but I've never seen anyone be forced because of that.
I've had ATA move me several times due to their own error (I checked in online 24 hours in advance and they goofed up their paperwork and released the seats). In those circumstances, I insisted on being given my original seats, which were exit rows that I'd chosen specifically and as early as possible. So I guess another reason you might not get the seats you chose is if they weren't really available and it was an airline goof.
But overall, your chances of getting those seats are over 90 percent, at least based on my experience flying at least twice monthly.

dorisdvu: i would also check when you check in at the airport. sometimes their machines have a glich and things get changed. i checked my nephew in with our 3 seats for a return flight on airtran online and it let me pick seats but when i got to the airport, they had him 10 rows behind us. they were full and unable to change but passengers are usually good about switching with children involved. this has also occurred to me on a longer flight and the airline (continental - love them!) actually paged passengers to their desk at the gate until my entire party was back together as it was an 8 1/2 hour flight and we didn't want to be separated.
