Do Rooms With A Trundle Bed Cost More?

I went to the WDW website to checkout sale prices for this summer. I was quoted $104 for a standard room but $121 for a room with a trundle bed. I just want to make sure this is right? My youngest is 1 so we don't offically need the trundle, but I thought it would be nice for one of my other 2 kids to sleep on? I would rather have the trundle than have a crib in the room.

Is it for Port Orleans Riverside? If so, I think they only charge extra if you have 5 people and need to use the trundle. I'm pretty sure you can even use it for free as long as there are 4 (or less) people in the room. But you wouldn't be guarenteed a room with a trundle, you would just have to request that area of the resort.

If you book the room with trundle, you'll be guarenteed it. If you book just the standard room, you could request to be in the bayou and if your request is granted you'll have the trundle - complimentary.

We've stayed in the bayou section every time but one. We've had a trundle bed each time, have used it and have never been charged. :)

I'm almost afraid to post a reply to this because last time I did boy did I get flamed! But what the heck..... here's my experience with this. The first time we stayed at POR we requested a room with a trundle bed. When we checked in, the CM told us that there would be a $15/night charge for the bed but, if we made it up ourselves each day and put it back under the other bed that housekeeping would have no way of knowing that we used it and we would not be charged. On our last day there, we simply left the bed out so that it would be clean for the next person who used it. It was never added onto out bill for that day either since we had already checked out by the time housekeeping got to our room. We did as suggested by the CM and sure enough we did not have to pay the extra $15/night fee. Do I feel dishonest or that I've cheated Disney? NO! Nothing we did cost them any extra money or time. It's not like someone had to take the time to bring us and pick up a rollaway. And I've never heard of any other hotel that charges extra for using a bed that's already in the room. So please folks, hold the flames.

When I called for our ressies, originally we weren't sure if there would be five, but I was told, that we could request the trundle, since we had a boy and a girl..and she said (although who knows if it was right), that if the 5th one is a child, there is still no charge. However, our fifth is an adult, and since we have 3 adults in our room, we are paying the adult roomcharge. No charge for the trundle.

When I called for quotes of POR, they asked how many, ages of children, etc. They quoted me the price of the room plus the $15 for the trundle...and the $15 is not discounted. It's added to the total after the discounts are taken off the room.

We've stayed in the Alligator Bayou section on three occasions - never had 5 people and always had a trundle bed. On one trip, our 5 year old daughter used it every night - 'cause she thought it was cool. I had prepaid my room and there were no additional charges just because our 4th person chose to sleep in the "little bed".

You will ONLY be charged for it if you have 5 people in your room. They don't care if you use it - even if there's only 2 of you! You're not being charged for the bed, you're being charged for the 5th person in the room.

Can't believe the previous poster was spammed because of this. HOW RIDICULOUS!! We used the bed, we left it out every morning, housekeeping made the bed and placed DD's stuffed animals on her pillow every day. No extra charges - but there were only 4 of us.

Dumb Question? What exactly is a trundle bed? Is it the size of a single bed? Comfortable for an adult?

I don't think an adult would be comfortable on the trundle. When I made my reservations, I asked about the trundle bed (because the kids are 17 and 5 and they don't want to sleep in the same bed if we can help it) and she told me it would be an extra 15.00. I said no thanks. I asked which rooms had the trundle beds and she said all of them. I guess we'll see how it goes when we get there. I guess could understand the extra charge if there are 5 in a room. I can tell you though when my 5 yo dgd sees that little bed, she's gonna be playing on it. How do you expain that to housekeeping?

Nanalisa...if you happen to get a bayou room with a trundle bed your 5-year old will be able to use the bed at no additional cost. We have done this exact thing - no way did our 6-year old want to sleep with her big brother when that little bed looked so appealing!! We were never charged extra for using the bed and we had only 4 people in our room.

I just made a new reservation earlier this week for Port Orleans Riverside. I called back last night to request the Alligator Bayou section one more time. Nothing was said about those rooms costing $15 more because we had chosen a building with an extra bed.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...if you have four people in your room and your child wants to sleep in that bed, let them do it. You won't be charged extra unless you have 5 people in the room...and then, you're not being charged for the bed, you're being charged for the 5th person.

Thanks TwinMom7, I feel better about this now. I am really excited about going back to POR, it's perfect for our situation.

I agree with the other posters that they will charge for the 5th person in the room, not for just using the trundel bed. We stayed at Dixie in Aug of 2000 and was given a room with a trundle bed. Although we were told that we would be charged if we used it, but I doubt they would have know even if we did. We only had 4 in the room, so I don't think that there was a question about it.

I made a reservation for POR and I told the CM that I wanted an AB room with the trundle. He put down my request, but he also said that I wasn't guaranteed that room because I don't have 5 (infant doesn't count). He said if there was a family of 5 they would get it before we did. I can understand, but I wanted to pay the extra $ to get the room in the first place. He gave me my rate of $104 and said if I got the AB then they would add the extra $15 on. If we aren't a true family of 5 would we really get the $15 added on? I'm a little nervous about staying here. I decided on this moderate because of the trundle bed, I would just like to know we are guaranteed one but they can't do that. Isn't there a moderate where you can get a rollaway? If so at least I know that I could get one? You probably aren't guaranteed one of those either unless you have 5. My youngest won't sleep in a crib when we travel otherwise this wouldn't be an issue:)
