I am still about 4 months out from my vacation and we are going during value season in a week that is said to be "low attendance" (after thanksgiving, mousefest, pop warner but BEFORE christmas).

'Ohana and Le Cellier are TOTALLY booked for lunch/dinner the entire Wed through Sunday stay. I did book 1900 park fare for dinner and Chef Mickey's for breakfast, but I wanted some good eatin's w/out characters or a buffett for our other meals. We were able to get Coral Reef for 11:30.

Do ressies ever open up or do I just assume people are no shows w/ou cancelling?

I am sure ADRs open up. But I don't know the schedule, whether they show immediate or first thing in the morning.
I would not want to count on others just not showing up. It could be the restaurant is overbooked anyway and not accepting any walk ups.

We went this same time of year last time--Dec. 5-10, and it was GREAT!

We had no problem with last-minute reservations (this was before the dining plan, however). We were even able to get same day reservations in Cinderella's castle.

I wouldn't count on it, though--because I've heard the restaurants are more packed now that they have the dining plan!

Just keep calling and very the days and times you never know.

I have called from the park after being told no walkups and got in.

They do open up. People cancel all the time.

We booked this upcoming trip less than 180 days from check-in, so we didn't get all the ADR's we wanted at first. But after calling every day, we were able to pick up a Le Cellier dinner and a Coral Reef dinner from cancellations.

My advice would be to keep trying. You never know what might happen!

Keep trying!

I have called and changed things numerous times already for my December trip. Sometimes I call and what I wan't isn't available (mainly Candlelight Processional package) then I call back the next day and have my choice of seating times. I just changed the date for my Candlelight Proc Package this morning to Dec 23rd and the last time I called (either Sat or Sun morning) there was nothing available for Dec. 23rd.

Call, call, call!!! I call at least twice a day and at different times! The only one that I haven't been able to get is Le Celliar, but I'm going to keep trying. It probably won't happen thanks to free dining, but you never know!
