Do resort guests have to go through security again at the parks?

I still don't understand why they don't fix this need for double screening to enter Epcot from the monorail.
There is no way to board a monorail without going through the screening process.
So you get off at Epcot and have to go through again. Totally unnecessary.
It would not be that difficult to funnel the people from the monorail discharge ramp past the checkpoints.
Yes, they would need to set up some barriers which could be as simple as portable screens if they don't want to construct anything permanently.
It happened to be one of our longest waits on a recent trip, which I know could have been simply poor line choice. But the knowledge that the whole process was unnecessary since we'd already been screened made it that much more annoying.
It is in the plans to eventually

Can strollers still go through the entrance for people with no bags or have they stopped that now?
Yes, provided there are no bags anywhere in or on the stroller or the person(s) pushing the stroller

But when you leave Epcot to get on the monorail, don't you leave the secure area? (Is that correct, that only the monorail drop off at Epcot is outside Epcot's security?)
No, monorail entrance ramp is inside the secure zone and the ramps at TTC are also inside secure zone. You never leave the secure zone, unless you walk to Poly, where you'd have to go to security again.

Good to hear this. I didn't know it was being addressed. Any ideas on timing?

Yes, provided there are no bags anywhere in or on the stroller or the person(s) pushing the stroller

They gave my daughter some grief on a recent visit because the stroller had a little storage area in the console. You know the kind for keys, cell phone, etc.
the security guard opened it and told her in future she needs to take that through bag check.
Don't know if he was just being overzealous or if that is policy.

Oops

Apparently I don't know how to reply to multiple items in a quote.
The previous post uncles my reply to 2 different items.
Sorry. I'll just do it separately from now on.

Another one to make note of was the boat transportation from WL, we got off the boat at MK go through security at the dock (everybody through the metal detector at both areas), just to go through security AGAIN just feet in front of us.
When was this? We went in June and this was not the case. We did the security check immediately after getting off the boat but that was it. The bus security check was further to the right, so there was no other security check in our path to get into MK.

This is what we experienced on our recent visit too, it was super annoying. We encountered longer security lines at Epcot than anywhere else made even more frustrating because we had already cleared it. One morning we actually cleared it 3 times before entering a park, once getting on at Contemporary, once at the TTC (we walked over from our Kona breakfast), and then again at Epcot. The 3rd time being our own fault obviously, I think it probably would have been faster to just clear at the Poly and ride the loop around.

Some CMs at the monorail stations told us they’re working on a solution, but I’m not sure if they’re any more reliable than bus drivers lol.

I was curious about this, too, so I did a little research. When you leave Epcot to get on the monorail, you do NOT leave the secure area. There is security for those exiting the monorail and coming from the buses (opposite side from the monorail entrance), and security for those entering from the Epcot parking lot. But you do not pass either area when entering the monorail. So since you went through security however you entered Epcot (possibly twice!), you are still "secure".

Overzealous or he didn't like the storage area. We go bagless to the parks so I use the bagfree line all the time. I see a lot of strollers going in that way and other than the guard checking to make sure there are no bags anywhere, they never say a word. But, I've never seen one of them have a closed storage area on them either. My advice is to open that before going through .

When we visited in December (8-16) last year, we wanted to see the gingerbread house at GF.....decently big mistake. We had to wait to get back onto the Monorail to head to MK for 45 minutes... Only to get off and do security again. I am all for the security but they need to get a handle on how the Monorail resorts does security screenings. When you have large crowds being funneled down to a single file line for the metal detector, that every one had to go through, it creates a madhouse.

Every park except MK was "random" selection, MK everyone went through metal detectors. And that might just be because of the holiday season, but I do not know.
Huh? Where did you go through security twice at MK when going from a Monorail or Boat accessible resort? We were at CR in December and went from both GF and WL to MK earlier this month.
You are checked getting on the monorail at GF and CR, on the walking path from CR, and when exiting the boat from WL. There are no other checks before the turnstiles at MK. The only other security checks or metal detectors at MK are way back at by the bus stops so there couldn't be another check to go through. I can't figure out where else you were checked

I hate bag check at Epcot. DD came along on our last trip and for some reason she can't manage to go bagless and man was it annoying to wait on her to go through Epcot's bag check.

But they are going to rework the Epcot entrance at some point, though who knows how long it will be. All part of the revisioning there

The security theater screenings and hotel room checks are far more disturbing to me than parking fees. They add nothing to actual security (as a security person by trade I know Disney's tactics are 100% BS), but treat all the guests as criminals.

It's getting close to our family vacationing elsewhere.

The storage area I referenced is just that small compartment on the handle between the 2 cup holder spaces. It has a flip top. It won't hold more than a glass case and cell phone which is what she had in it. I think most strollers other than the umbrella type have something like that. Storage area was a poor description but he told her to take it through bag check in the future.

Whatever it is, I've never seen any guard stop a stroller, and I've seen someone bring a stroller through every time I enter. So it was either that individual guard or something about her specific stroller. I know I never had a stroller that had a compartment like you describe on our strollers and none we rented at Disney had one. So it's not something I'm familiar with.

Could it be possible you are misremembering this?

There hasn’t been an extra security screening for those people exiting the resort launches or monorail at the MK since March of 2017, to my knowledge.

The only screening actually at the park is for those exiting the resort buses.

Oh no no no, did not "misremember" because my son had a very bad diaper accident on the boat which involved getting on his clothes and ours, and we wanted nothing more than to get off the boat and get to the restroom. Only to go through security off the boat at the dock, and then again in the mass herd of security before scanning magicbands.

After getting off the WL boat transport to go to the MK we went through security at the dock. Then we went and did security again at the main security area. Once again I have no clue if it was due to the holiday crowd and/or something was said to authorities to have Disney on their toes. I do not know but I do know our experience last trip with security. And with the GF everyone went through security at the monorail stop to leave GF then we went through it again before entering MK. If there was a secret passage to take for those who have already been through...we did not find it. Unless the security was moved since December to be closer to the bus stop...it was towards the front right before scanning magicbands.

We felt this frustration when we stayed at the Poly. Our building was right next to TTC, so we used the express monorails thinking they would be faster. But then we had to go through Security twice. It may have been faster to use the resort monorail. I would think this double screen would be a relatively easy fix for Disney. Hope they resolve it.

I was there December 2 to 8. We went to GF to see the decorations before going to MK. We went through security before getting on the monorail. No security getting off, we walked straight to the magic band scan.

We were staying at BW, when we took the bus to MK, we went through security after getting off the bus. Then walked to the magic band scan, no additional security.
