Do resort guests have to go through security again at the parks?

I saw a video online which seemed to suggest that you get checked at your hotel before getting on the monorail? And that you can go right into the parks without waiting in line again? Or did I misunderstand what I saw?

Every park has screening of some type..some pulled for further scanning, just ask my son lol

When we stayed at the Poly, we used the Transportation Center monorails. We had to go through Security twice - once before we boarded and again at the parks.

If you're staying at one of the monorail resorts then you'll go through security prior to getting on the monorail platform to leave your hotel. After that you get off at MK and you go into the park, you won't go through security again.

Only those arriving to MK by bus will go through security at MK.

For those departing to go by boat, you'll go through security on the boat dock after you get off

Security for all other guests is done at TTC

Anyone who travels to Epcot whether by monorail or bus will go through security again at Epcot since you'll be let out outside the park

Is this something new? I have always stayed monorail but don't recall this. Our trip coming up is also monorail resort , so I was surprised to see this on a video.

Has this been a new addition since the use of magic bands?

Security was changed last year.

Those arriving to TTC go through security immediately after exciting the tram. Security points there are prior to getting to the ticket windows and ferry/tram/bus at TTC

Edit: just looked up when it changed and it was March of 2017

All cleared up.
Thanks!

When we visited in December (8-16) last year, we wanted to see the gingerbread house at GF.....decently big mistake. We had to wait to get back onto the Monorail to head to MK for 45 minutes... Only to get off and do security again. I am all for the security but they need to get a handle on how the Monorail resorts does security screenings. When you have large crowds being funneled down to a single file line for the metal detector, that every one had to go through, it creates a madhouse.
Another one to make note of was the boat transportation from WL, we got off the boat at MK go through security at the dock (everybody through the metal detector at both areas), just to go through security AGAIN just feet in front of us.
Every park except MK was "random" selection, MK everyone went through metal detectors. And that might just be because of the holiday season, but I do not know.

I don't understand.

Edit: nvm, got turned around. Security was done on the docks after exiting the boats. I guess we waited so long to board the boat that I thought we went through security prior to boarding

It's just the opposite. For those arriving by the Grand Floridian/Poly boat they will go through security check before entering MK.

yea correct. Got turned around and mixed it up. Security is done after exiting the boats and not prior. We waited so long to board I thought we went through security then lol. But now I recall it took so long because everyone exiting had to go through security right next to us prior to the boat being loaded

Incidentally, going from a MK area hotel to Epcot requires a double screen, but guests leaving Epcot and going to MK don’t need screened again as they never leave the secure area.
I still don't understand why they don't fix this need for double screening to enter Epcot from the monorail.
There is no way to board a monorail without going through the screening process.
So you get off at Epcot and have to go through again. Totally unnecessary.
It would not be that difficult to funnel the people from the monorail discharge ramp past the checkpoints.
Yes, they would need to set up some barriers which could be as simple as portable screens if they don't want to construct anything permanently.
It happened to be one of our longest waits on a recent trip, which I know could have been simply poor line choice. But the knowledge that the whole process was unnecessary since we'd already been screened made it that much more annoying.

You'll also go through security if you walk over from Contemporary. The last time we did the walk, there was a smaller security area off to the side at the end of the Contemporary path just for those guests. Not sure if they still do it that way.

The best thing about the now non-existant Disney Express Transportation was that you only had to go through Security once and as long as you stayed within the parks, you didn't have to go through security. It was my favorite thing ever!

Could it be possible you are misremembering this?

There hasn’t been an extra security screening for those people exiting the resort launches or monorail at the MK since March of 2017, to my knowledge.

The only screening actually at the park is for those exiting the resort buses.

That's the method.

But when you leave Epcot to get on the monorail, don't you leave the secure area? (Is that correct, that only the monorail drop off at Epcot is outside Epcot's security?)
