Do reservations become available again as you get closer to the dates?

I'm going to Disney October 5th and I was looking to score Ohana dinner one of those nights. Non are currently available at a reasonable time. I know I've been able to get it closer to the dates if I missed it 180 in advance. Do you think I have a shot at getting a ressie? If so is it common for things to open up when the date approaches?

Yes, other people are changing their plans or cancelling their trips all the time. One theory is that ADR's will open up when people hit the 45-day payment deadline for packages, though that isn't an exact day you can count on. Also, a lot of restaurants seem to open up the day before, thanks to the new cancellation policy.

Some people keep multiple ADR's close enough to keep them then cancel 24 hours out when they make up their mind.

Glad to hear things do open up--I've been trying to get a reservation at BOG for any of the 5 days of our vacation in October, have tried every day for over a month, and still no luck :( I feel like my best bet is if they extend breakfast for BOG into the fall.

Just keep trying. We didn't decide on our June trip until 62 days out. We made the FP+ deadline, but we figured that we wouldn't be able to get many ADRs. So far, I was able to get 8:05 at CP on our first morning, which is kind of a tradition for us, BOG for breakfast at 8:00 and dinner on another day. One of the most difficult to get was Sci-Fi since we'll be there during SWWs. At this point, I've been able to get everything we wanted. There's only 3 of us, so that's probably easier than a big group.

There are MULTIPLE threads/postings about this on a daily and weekly basis if you check this forum..

Basically what happens is likely people overbook and cancel which causes openings later. I only booked at 60 days out and at the time no BOG dinner/lunch was available but checking daily ( multiple times even) I grabbed multiple options and also using the monthly cancellation board is a great tool also. I've gotten some difficult reservations including both star wars meals well after they became available and announced , dining with an imagineer and just booked the fireworks dessert party a few days ago..so just check check and check some more!
