Do rechargeable batteries need to be replaced?

These batteries are only 6 months old - Energizer. I have two sets of the AA. I had one set on the charger plugged in (been there for a few days) and I put it in the camera and it says change batteries??

I was actually told that leaving batteries in the charger AFTER they are charged will start to lose the charge.

depends on the quality of the charger, I have a 30 minute charger and when the batteries are fully charged it switches to a trickle charge to maintain the batteries, some chargers will continue at full power and overheat the batteries shortening their lifespan.

I also keep a small flashlight next to my charger for my older type batteries I think they are energizers .I use the flashlight ot completly drain the battery before charging this helps with the memory of some types of batteries.

I use rechargeables for everything in my household except the smoke alarms.I have more then 30 of them and always have 4 aa and 2 aaa charged and ready to go.

My DiMage Z-1 uses four AA rechargeables, I've had them for three years now and they are still good. I wonder if you've got a bad charger or bad set of batteries?

(BTW--I "handed down" the Z-1 to DH--he's like a pig in the mud with it LOL!)

They do eventually get to where they don't recharge anymore - they don't last forever. I have a set that's ready to go now. They run down really quickly. You may want to try recharging them one more time and see if they will work.
