I often wondered why the fire marshall thinks a three year old is different than a four year old in terms of safety? Why is it okay to have a baby in a crib but not okay to have a third child in a bed with two siblings? :confused3 I have three children and would glady pay to rent a roll away or even an extra amount to accomodate my third child in the same room as the rest of my family. I'd even go so far as to provide an air bed. I don't understand the logic there. Can anyone shed light on this?
I don't really know. My only guess it is that you will carry the littler kid, so only one set of legs going down the stairs. Now this is only a guess so take it with a grain of salt.

I hear you. DH thought maybe it would be safer for the older kid cause he/she could run in case of a fire. :rotfl2: Again, just a theory, not implying anything else. :teeth:

Oh and also, I have a question for everyone.. how do pool hoppers even get caught? It's not like they have a sign on their back that says "im pool hopping"
When the pool is crowded CM are know to ask for ID. The amount of stuff they bring is a good indicator. A person at the resort is not arriving with clothes to change from and back into after the pool. Kids say thing like how happy they are to have come to this pool, it is so much better than theirs.

I've seen some Disney behaviour that would make your hair stand on end. :sad2:

1. People think 5 in a room is bad? I've seen 7 in one room! Unbelievable.

2. Oh yeah, I've personally seen minors smoking and going completely wild in Pleasure Island.

3. Splitting double cheese-burgers? Re-using mugs? That's nothing. I've seen a couple eat somebody else's leftover spaghetti! The two of them happy to do so - one of them looked like a b**ch!

4. People are talking about Disney and swimming. I've seen a Dad with his son and when they're swimming he somehow loses track of his kid and doesn't even know where he's gone and the doozy the Dad is with, some feather-brained broad, seems to have a hard time even remembering the kids name when everyone else is pretty freaked about the kid being missing.

5. Back to the food..... I've seen one guy in particular who just ate himself into a stupor. Could barely fit through the exit to get out. Some people really overdo the 'all you can eat' thing.

Where exactly have I seen all of this abysmal behaviour? In Disney movies of course!! Our favourites after all!! :goodvibes :teeth:

1. Snow White

2. Pinnochio

3. Lady & The Tramp

4. Finding Nemo :lmao:

5. Winnie The Pooh eating all of Rabbit's honey and getting stuck in the tree. I love that scene! :teeth:

Anyway folks.... just thought I'd lighten the mood..... ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I love it! That is Brilliant! How'd you come up with that? Thanks, it was very funny! :teeth:

At some resorts you have to present a room key to get in..The BC n particular...If you don't have one ,you don't come in.

:rotfl2: Oh dear, LOL! Honestly, I guess we're coming to the part of this thread where we are drawing conclusions. So, my conclusion remains: I guess some people have nothing better to do with their vacation. I hope this was utter sarcasm and that you will not really be spending your vacation this way. :rotfl:

Of course it was and I'm disapointed that the picture I inserted came out as a link instead showing the the picture itself. I searched google images for a guy on a bull horn and thought it would be funny. It's a funny picture and would have really made my post if it had came out the way I wanted it too. It was just away of getting people to laugh and I wanted to lighten things up a little. I'll be too busy watching my twin 9 year olds in the Volcano pool to worry about hoppers that don't belong there. That doesn't mean I condone that type of behavior and I do wish people woud think about their actions and how it could affect the paying guests of that resort.

Has anyone noticed that in this entire thread of 260 posts noone has actually admitted to pool hopping? I wonder how prevelent it can really be? It just doesn't seem convenient trekking about to other pools. Also, I don't view Disney as a pool destination anyway. Aren't we really going for the parks, and the pool is just a place to cool off and slow down for a bit? Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose when you pack up your family and once again board Disney transportation? I have to think that so few people are doing it that its a nonissue. But then again these pools must be really compelling if people are bragging about spending 500 a night for this "amenity". Are you kidding? Have you done a cost analysis? An extra 400 per night for a deluxe pool times 7 nights is 2800. OK, 3 hours at the pool per day is 21 hours...133 an hour for the deluxe pool..no wonder you're so bitter!
I would love to hear "confessions of a pool hopper".....

lmao-I know in our case, we barely use the pool at the resort we stay at, I'll be danged if I will haul my stuff to another pool. Like someone else said, we have a pool in our back yard, so for us having a pool there really isn't a big deal. Sure, we do use the resort pool (only where we are staying), but last trip we used it only half the time we did all the previous trip and we were there 2 days longer on last trip.

Sorry....I forgot the mug thing.....I've heard that people actually buy used mugs....ICK!

About pool hopping....I'm a DVC member & we're allowed to pool hop, BUT....I wouldn't. I just doesn't feel right......

If that is your Biggest worry, You are Lucky ( P.S. Stop whining )

When we stay at the Swan Or Dolphin we always bring the kids clothes and change at the restrooms, because the pool is a long hike from the rooms then either my DH or I run the wet suits back up to the room because otherwise we would waste too much time dragging the kids back and forth. Oh and we have a pool at our home but our kids like all the resort pools we have stayed at "better than theirs".

Would anyone be embarrased if they reported a suspected pool hopper just to find out they were not?

EDA:

We are Fla ressies so we go to the world several times a year and usually stat at POP. There are tons of chairs around the Hippy Dippy pool, but on hot days it can be almost impossible to get one. I seriously doubt anyone would bother to pool hop to a value resort Could it be the shortage of chairs people are expereincing at all the resorts is because none of the pools are big enough for the resorts when they are at full capacity? Or do people always automatically suspect their fellow man and start eavesdropping on conversations to pick up clues?

:thumbsup2

I must admit I DisUnc have NEVER pool hopped!
However that is what makes these boards so fascinating, people argue (with blinded passion) over NON issues!

Really who can be bothered?

But I have heard rumors to that the BMW pool is more wetter than the ASM pools! The Poly pool has more of a boyancy(?sp)! And the pool at the CR is designed with 'unsplashable' water! GF pools are filled with sparkling water imported from Lourdes!

As I posted on another board recently.....It seems as though there has been a shameful twist to the whole horrendus pool hopping marauders quest! Most Deluxe guest have been sneaking into the POP's pool. EVERYBODY wants to HIPPY DIPPY!!!

don't forget the blue dye to make CBR's pools more tropical or the addition of ducks in the WL pool to make it more authentic.

The great pool hopping debate will continue for years to come, threads will open and close on a weekly basis. That's the way it is around here.

The pools are probably too small during the hottest peak seasons. Other times they are almost empty. I don't pay attention to others, but will notice them if they become obnoxious.

To me when a site of this sizes says it is OK to pool hop and a novice reads that, they may do it. That is why it is important to state Disney's rule. Just because in 260 posts nobody admits to pool hopping does not mean that all who viewed the post don't or did not know that is against the rules. Those people may decide not to do it after being made aware of the rule.

OK I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for this but...

Does anyone else think that if you are so strapped for money that you resort ot some of these tactics, you really should be putting your money somewhere (ie, bills) other than Disney.

I know, I know, I can hear it... "Don't tell me how to spend MY money"

JMHO
---------------------------------

Wow! That's a pretty presumptuous attitude, don't you think? :confused3 Unless you know the complete financial history of every person who employs whatever money-saving method they choose to employ, for all you know those folks could be "The Millionaire Next-Door".. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Many people simply choose to place more value on their money and what they choose to spend it on - while others just blissfully go through life "throwing money" at everything - or just whipping out those trusty little credit cards..

As long as they remain within the guidlelines of the rules that Disney has set forth (or any other place they may be), it's really no one else's business - nor should they be told they are not "worthy" of taking a vacation and should be spending their money on "bills", etc.. For all you know, they may not even have any bills... :rotfl2:

I swap pins with others, but they are always in agreement. I guess you don't mean pins.

*Tie dirty diapers to their strollers?

*"Swap" things in the parks with complete strangers?

*Order a double cheeseburger & ask for an extra bun?

*Make meal sized salads off of the toppings bars?

*Sneak more guests in a resort room than Disney allows?

Just Curious...... :sunny:

:rotfl: i could never think of doing these. for one, i'd be to embarrassed :rotfl:

You are absolutely right. It is about the attitude of society. It's difficult for people to understand how they truly have the "wrong idea" when they are only concerned about themselves and getting what they want.

Rules ARE rules... for a reason! I am ALLLLLL about changing the rules when I feel strongly that they need to be changed... but there are proper channels to go through when you feel something is unjust.

When people see everything as a "free-for-all", and base their actions on what "they" think is okay, the system breaks down. That's when priviledges start getting taken away... stonger rules are put in place... and then things that were once fun, take on this negative, militaristic style because no one can be trusted to just "do the right thing".

Disney World is a place where people can easily take advantage of the system for their own benefit... but what angers me is that people don't comprehend (or bother to think about) the ramifications of their selfish actions. I go to Disney and I feel SOOOO HAPPY!!!!!

But I'm not going to feel quite so happy if they start carding me to get on the bus, carding me to go to the pool, taking my ID away when I rent a stroller, hovering over the condiments bar while I am putting my pickle on my burger... because those things make me feel like I am living in some kind of police state!

And the only way those things would ever happen is if it gets to point where so many people are abusing the system that Disney HAS to do those things. I hope it doesn't go that far. Disney World is one of the last places I can think of where I feel like a real GUEST, as opposed to an inmate. I don't want to lose that feeling! pixiedust:

Why is this idiot quoting herself? Is she that full of herself? No, I just wanted to save some time to point out something that people don't seem to have picked up on before:

Some of you seem to be having trouble understanding why certain people invest themselves in an argument like this. Let me first say, there isn't a chance in H-E-double hockey sticks that I would waste my time at Disney watching for wrong-doers (as many people have suggested)... My statement from my previous post is the reason I am bothered by rule breakers. Like I said, I really don't want for Disney to become just one more place that I am made to feel like a criminal. A person can't even pick up their kid from pre-school without showing a multitude of "proof"... ID, license plate number, and PHOTO in some places!

And when someone doesn't "see the big deal" in terms of rule-breaking "just from time to time"... I can't help but think about allllllllll the ways my priviledges have been reduced and I don't want for that to start happening at the World.

So there, I'm not some loser with too much time on my hands. Disney World is the LAST PLACE I would want to start feeling like I'm not trusted.

I haven't done any of the stuff that the OP mentioned in the first post, but we are always strapped for money, have a hard time paying our bills, live paycheck to paycheck, etc. Completely stressed out every month over money, and there not being enough of it.

Due in part to that stress, as well as additional stresses earlier this year over my son's psychiatric hospitalization and suicide dangers, and my dad's colon cancer, I NEED a vacation at WDW for my own mental health. When the free dining plan offer came out, I booked a trip without having any way to pay for it. I took money from our paycheck that should have gone to pay bills to pay the $200 deposit to Disney that would hold our reservation. Then, I went out and got a part time job - I am a stay at home mom. I now work evenings and weekends, hardly see my husband and son....thankfully I still get to spend all day long with my 5 yr old daughter. But my job is going to pay for our trip, and looking forward to this vacation is about all that has kept me going for the past few months while I went through hell with my son.

So yeah, probably my paychecks would be more smartly put to use by supplementing my husband's income and being used to help pay our bills, but having this vacation to look forward to is keeping me grounded and strong enough to deal with the other stresses in my life.

It sounds like you have going through such a very stressful time. Here's some pixie dust hoping everything gets better. :wizard: What a great idea to get a job to pay for your trip. I hope you have a wonderful time.
