Do people ever ask you " are you going there again"?

hi

i have been to WDW many times but this is my first time to Universal
very excited to share with friends<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_15_1.gif' border=0></a>

i told friends that i am going to UO but their reaction was "oh, going back there again?" well, i tried to explain WDW and Universal are 2 very different places but so many people have it in their heads that they are basically the same thing- (theme park)

i am so happy to have these boards to share the excitement with others that understand- none of my friends can figure out why i would want to visit orlando FL (WDW) so many times (this is our 9th trip in 5 years) but this time it will only be Universal!

anyway, thanks for listening<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_7.gif' border=0></a>

Yeah we get that as well people who have never been or like some of my older relatives went in the 1980,s do not realise just how much there is to see and do not just the parks but Orlando itself also I think a few are a little jealous because the secrelty want to go:jester:

The biggest thing I get asked is "why don't you go somewhere different?" My answer is "because I'm not done seeing Orlando yet." I've lost count of how many people have asked "Oh, so when do you go to Disney?? etc. And every time I say "It's Univesal we're going to." and the answer is something like "oh yeah, right" or my favorite "well, that's part of WDW, right?" My thought is this....we used to travel by mini-van w/ 3 kids from the east coast all the way out to Wyoming, up to Niagra Falls, Maine, etc. while all the other families we knew landed at the beach here for their entire vacations....every year! We drove through 32 states and Canada while the kids were growing up. And last year, when the boys 14 and 17 and parents stayed at RPR and (drumroll, please) got along wonderfully the entire 7 night stay... I think it was the best vacation we've ever had! And when it was my 17yr old son's (now 18) idea to go back this year for longer (10 nights), why not do it all over again?

We get it all the time. I just smile and silently say to myself, "You're asking me this and you spend every freakin' summer at the Jersey Shore? Tell who is really the crazy person here?"

my family is the worst. None of them do disney and can't believe we just keep going back to Orlando every year. I try to book different places, but when I get to the price part, I just can't beat the price of an Orlando trip and we just keep going back!! I just smile and say I know there are others places to see, but we just like seeing Orlando the best!!

It's my money. I'll support the US economy any way I like:p

Sounds like I am not the only one with annoying friends/family. I just don't get it, unless someone wants to rain on your parade. Most likely a family takes the same vacation every year either because of economics or because they really like it, dah. All they have to say is, "You must really enjoy (fill in the blank), have a great time!" I know that I would be THRILLED to go to Orlando every year!

I get asked that about my trips to Universal Studios...but then again, I go every weekend!! :)

When I would tell my co-workers that we were going to Universal for our last vacation, they'd say things like, "Oh, you MUST go to the Cirque de Soliel!" or "Isn't eating a Market Place cookie at dusk just the best?" Amateurs!

I get it alot too, particularly here in Kansas.
I can't understand how the people here spend every other weekend at a campground built next to an interstate with no lake, no trees, no hills, etc.
Or praying to their lawns every weekend.
Or spending all of their $$$ on a house and cars that eat up 80% of their income.
I guess that's why there is vanilla and then there is chocolate.

OH man................ not just chocolate......... it's GODIVA!!!!!

But, I really don't get that too much, usually, and this is funny... but it's other relatives that "poo poo" on our parade!! Like, OH, you're going again............ It's the green eyed monster, and I don't mean HULK!!!!

It seems most other people always want the "scoop" on the deals I get!!!!! ( In fact one of my DH's friends from work called last night......... they are heading down there for mothers day, and he wanted to know if I knew of any deals!!!) LOL

i hate when my relatives grill me about going to florida AGAIN without any kids. disney and universal are for everyone and i usually get in a huff over it. if i do take kids, we do all of the parks. if i go with just adults, we usually choose 1 or 2 things we really want to do. it's my vacation and i like to spend it in sunny florida. i agree with the above poster, it's our money, we can spend it anyway we like and for me, it won't be on the jersey shore!

My parents always ask me that. Fools... :)

One day, I hope to live less than 5 minutes from Universal so I can make everyone here jealous. :)

I can disguise my trips a bit. My mom, who is in failing health, lives about 3 hours from Orlando. We drive down to visit her at least twice a year. People seem to understand that a visit to UO "breaks up the trip"! Honestly, though, I don't know what I'd do if my mother lived in...say... Minnesota!

I used that excuse while my mother lived in Tampa. She has moved away from there now so I have lost that reasoning for my Florida trips. People do ask me, "why are you going again?" and "oh you're going to Disney." I tell them we are going to Universal and not Disney and they say things like, "that's part of it" or "oh it's all the same" or even "I can't believe you are going to Orlando and not going to Disney". Foolish friends, foolish friends. People also say, "You have more money than we do to afford these vacations." UGH. These are the same people who pay $2000 for a week at a condo at the beach and who eat out every night of the week (not just on vacation but while at home and that adds up). What's the difference? My stays at Universal are cheaper since I have the 2 yr prefered APs and get discounts. To each his own I suppose.

Quote from father,

"going to Disney again?.....I mean come on.....the kid is seven and has been to Disney over seven times.....What over $4000?! You could go to France for a week for less than that!..........Disney Disney Disney.....Florida uck!!"

This speech has become a yearly thing lol

I just don't get these family and friends and their good intentions. You would think that they would be happy for you because they care about you, regardless of what type of vacation you take. If I could go to WDW or even spend 5 days at Universal every year I would be thrilled. If a friend or family member spent their vacation every year sleeping in the woods I would support them and wish them a great time and great weather.

I loved reading all your stories and I laughed at them!! :) I think it is funny when people ask me that, but the only people who do are friends. My family lives in Florida, my Dad works at Disney and my parents both have AP's to Universal, so I never get asked that question by them! LOL:p
