We did discounted cash this past trip for all of our weekend nights. SO that was 4. We stayed at BCV for one weekend night and that would have cost us 75 points. This allowed us to go for 14 nights vs. 10. We did 3 cash nights at OKW. I am trying to figure out our trip for next summer. Again we want to stay at BCV and 8 nights just seems like a good number. I have several ways to make this happen....of course we would use 390 if they were all on pts. We would use 315 if we paid a cash night if available. This trip it was 457.50 plus tax. I could use even less pts. if we paid cash for both weekend nights. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT.

We rarely use points for the weekends, however we never do cash nights at the DVC resorts either. We usually head to the beach, to Universal or to one of the Value or Moderate resorts at WDW for the weekend. We usually book Sun.-Thu. at at DVC resort, pay cash elsewhere for the weekend and then book Sun.-Thu. at a different DVC resort. We never mind the moving (we usually have our own car with us) and now have it down to a science so there is little impact on our trip.

No, we bought our points so we wouldn't have to pay out of pocket in addition. That is why we purchased more points soon after the first contract.

I'm with Diane and have added on enough to stay over weekends. We do a lot of short trips too - Thursday or Friday to Monday or Tuesday.

We stayed one weekend night this last trip and won't do that again. We did it because our plan was not to return this year. Now we are thinking maybe going down for Christmas and during the days we are looking at, we could have stayed 3 nights for what that one weekend night cost in points.

We spend points on Weekends -- no big deal. We evaluated and purchased based on a "full week." We don't tend to look at the nightly breakdown.

I use points on weekends. I look at the weekly point total, not the daily.

I DO have a problem spending all of those points on the weekend so I'm with you OP!! I try to make sure that my trips are Sun - Fri and if it does roll over to the weekend then it becomes a toss up.......I've used the points before but I've also paid cash

We try to arrive on a Sunday and then stay for nine or ten days so we can still maximize our points while using them on the weekends.

For a while, we didn't use our points on Friday and Saturday nights, but booked a Moderate resort with an AP discount. Eventually, we got tired of having to switch resorts during our vacation, so we just bought more points (have 700 so far...)

Points only. The reason we bought DVC was so that we didn't have to spend cash for accommodations.

We purchased 250 points initially in 1993 to give us at least 1 full week in a 2 bedroom during some of the higher point seasons. We rarely went during those times, but if we wanted to, we had the points. We never considered not using points on the weekends. That was the whole idea behind our buying DVC, no additional out of pocket dollars needed for our accomodations. We have added on twice and now have 400 points. Enough to do at least 2 (sometimes more) vacations a year. We are always in a state of perpetual borrowing. By the time 2042 rolls around I'll be 92 and who cares if I don't have any points left that last year.

It does bother me to use points on the weekend......of course I should be going to a value or mod during the weekend instead of a studio:rolleyes1

Now I'm "roughing" it on the weekend in a studio:lmao: before moving to my 1BR:snooty:

I do love the split stay though so it works for me.

I'm using weekend points for a family trip next year because there will be seven of us (including 3 toddlers) and moving would be a nightmare. For my solo trips, I'll more than likely move to POFQ for the weekends. I travel light and don't mind moving. I'd much rather spend 10 week nights with a cash weekend in the middle than seven nights using weekend points. Once I pay the air fare, I want to stay as long as possible. :goodvibes

I do use points, but I try to only have one weekend night.

For members like us who only vacation once each year for a week at a time, using points on the weekends is no big deal. Everyones situation is different of course, you have to do what's best for you. JMO
