not into the characters, yes into playstation/hanging in the lab

what were the do not misses for your ds11?
where would he want to skip?

so characters are all over the ship all the time? Thought it was mostly specific times
We'll be the ones walking by and letting the little kids have their fun.
Where mostly do these characters hang out? Deck 5?

Seems like to me the biggest character hangs out here on the boards, affectionately known as BD!!!

On the ship, however, the characters can be spotted different places at different times, but the majority of their appearances would be deck 3 midship around the Atrium.

lol Andy - I completely agree

(and most of the time BD doesnt bother me either)

I made an addition to my last post about the characters on the ship!!!

I beleive you said you are going on the western so I would say that stingray city is a do not miss for your son. It is a truely unique experience.

Hi Ann -yup Stingray City is in the plans
and Sally's mini-golf on Cozumel
not sure about Key West tho

LOL!!!...

imgoingtodisney - ok, let's have a serious moment. Take a look into Jungle Tours. My DS10 and I had a terrific time. You take those mini-speed boats and go through the mangrove forest. Then it's a race all around Key West, stopping in an inlet to go snorkeling near two sunken boats. A lot of fun and moderately priced...

Thanks for my morning laugh BD and VM!!!

My ds 11 last year loved just being in the club. They did a "clean up" race against the kids on the Magic (obviously we were on the Wonder!). He thought that was pretty cool.

He also enjoyed seeing the stringrays as we left port.

Of course, Scoops and Plutos was a great hit for a growing boy. I was amazed at how much he ate!

All little things, but sometimes that is what is important.

He really enjoyed the catamaran sail and snorkel. He was a little hesitant (which is very unusual) but once he got in, he loved it.

One of the most fun things we did on the ship was a vegetable car race held in one of the night clubs on a sea day. I can't remember the exact name...the Mickey 500 maybe?? Each team was given a knife, cutting board, a potato, carrot, set of wheels and axels, straw, a few toothpicks, and 15 minutes. The rest was up to the team. If you included a character in the design, you'd win an extra prize. The vehicles were raced down an incline track...think Pinewood Derby if you are a Cub Scout mom. We all had a blast. That is classic 11 year old boy fun.

My DS was 11 on our Wonder 4 day trip last year. I don't know much about the 7 day, but at Castaway Cay he really enjoyed going to Skuttles Cove in the afternoon for a while. They played with super soakers through an obstacle course or something.

There was a private party at the Mickey Pool just for their age group and also a time when they could go to the Teen club with just their group (I think they have PS II there.)

They also had a pizza party one night later in the evening and just hang out time in the lab even later than that.

Remember there are specific times he can just "hang" in the lab. Otherwise there are specific activities.

BD, you crack me up :teeth: !!

No one has mentioned the movies in the Buena Vista Theater. My son enjoyed seeing new and old movies on the boat.
But he absolutely LOVED the lab. He would have spent EVERY minute there if we'd have let him!

My son liked the movies, he liked the video game room, the lab, and on CC he LOVES the Banana Boats. He liked playing ping pong. And he liked just watching the movies on TV at night.

DS11 will definately be watching LOTS of movies onboard the ship - both in the room and in the theatre.
Im torn on this tho - feel like he should be doing something a little more active.

ds was in the 10-12 group last time we sailed and he raves about the "La Glow Fiesta" that the club holds one night. He also loved the PSII challenges with the counselors. Mostly he loved the relative freedom of coming and going as he pleased. Just make sure you set down some ground rules right off for when and how, and whom he can hang with. I saw some (not many) kids running free ALOT and getting into trouble.

Last year, we did the tour around Key West on jetski. It was wonderful! They even has parts where you can "open it all the way" and go as fast as you want. DS rode with DH and DD rode with me. Our family enjoyed it so much, we came home and bought a jetski for our family! Do it! My ds10, at the time LOVED this!!!!
