Do not miss Satuli Canteen!! Just back!

Hey, if I provide info which is helpful to someone, it doesn't really matter if they end up liking something which I didn't. The point is that I'm trying to be helpful.

I'm going to agree with you. We had breakfast there and it was o.k. but nothing to write home about and we had supper there and again, it was o.k. but nothing to right home about. My son had the chicken bowl and I had the kid's meal chicken bowl. Other than the sauces we felt like it was pretty much the same salad we would get at any fast food place at home. Not saying it was bad, it was just o.k. for us and not something we would go out of our way to eat but also not something we would avoid if we were hungry and there. Just as a reference, we are very adventurous eaters and like to try new places and things to eat.

The cheesecake was incredibly good (we had it a couple of times). I would definitely get it again - amazing value and quality for a QS. I thought the spring rolls were just "meh". Plus very small for the price. I had just had the pineapple cream cheese wontons at Yak and Yeti the day before and fell in love...so was very excited for the spring rolls. A bit of a letdown unfortunately :(

I never really got to enjoy the bowls sadly. The rest of my family did but I was too busy running around haha. I tried the cheeseburger pod and liked it but wouldn't go out of my way for it...I like a normal cheeseburger more. I did think my group would be more crazy about Satuli Canteen because both my DH and SIL were always hunting for healthier, lighter options..but they were just ok with Satuli. They RAVED about the bowls at Yesake Sushi in Disney Springs and we went to extra effort to return - ate there 3 times lol.
We only want to try the cheeseburger pods for the novelty (we've never tracked down the cheeseburger spring rolls yet so this is the next best thing). I think I'll go with your suggestion of cheesecake for dessert, I've seen nothing but praise on here for it, I'll let someone else get the spring rolls and try to get a corner to nibble on :)

Sounds like a good plan!

Pescatarian- eats fish, seafood but no chicken or meat
Vegetarian- no fish, seafood, chicken or meat
Vegan- no fish, seafood, chicken, meat, eggs, dairy.

As a vegetarian we can have dairy and egg in our diet but no flesh of any animal.
I am not a vegetarian/vegan or anything close but really don't understand the trouble with the definition? Vegetarian no meat, vegan no meat or animal products.

This comes up so often, there really needs to be specific lists of animal products in foods available, online at least.

It's ridiculous that anyone would think a "vegetarian" would eat fish or chicken but I kind of see why someone who works in a food service establishment where they encounter people from all over would possibly be a little confused about the terms. "I'm a vegetarian, I only eat chicken" or "I'm a vegetarian, I only eat fish" doesn't make any sense to me but I've heard the equivalent of both a lot.

So, for the sauces... are the black bean and creamy herb ones salad dressing-esque?

Are they all cold?

Just trying to figure out which would go best with which base.

No worries, @Best Aunt. Even those of us who like Satu'li appreciate the honest feedback for the benefit of anyone who's curious to try the menu. If I see a thread where everyone has the same opinion, my immediate instinct is to believe something has gone terribly wrong. Just as you probably don't think it's the worstest ever, most of us don't think it's the bestest ever, either - reasonable minds (and tastes) may disagree.

Whenever I discuss Disney restaurants, it's always in the "bubble" - how does this restaurant compare with other options at Disney? With other QS or TS restaurants? Would I rather eat here or just go for the emergency energy bar in my pack (which in the Florida heat and humidity now resembles one of those protein blocks from Snowpiercer)? In the bubble, Satu'li is pretty good to me in terms of QS at WDW. Would it do so well in my real world? Nope - and definitely not at it's price point. All good info when deciding how to spend your dollars or dining credits at WDW.

I think they are supposed to be salad bowls, right?

I've just spent some time looking at the menu. Thank you for recommending this. This is exactly the type of food that I love.

I guess I'm one of the few who wasn't impressed with that restaurant. My "bowl" was basically a salad with some roast beef on top.The blue dessert (OP posted a picture) was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. I'm happier with a cupcake.

I had the cheeseburger pods last month. I quite liked them overall. I thought the place gave enough "exotic" items for those looking and gave an "exotic" feel for the "regular" items such as the pods instead of just a regular cheeseburger. I was skeptical of the savory boba pearls but enjoyed them too with the salad.
The pod itself I thought a tiny bit bready, in compared to a regular bun but the flavor was pretty spot on in general which I was glad. I did see that the menu could be confusing as folks asked me what I had and had no idea they were on the menu or were just skeptical in general until I told them they were cheeseburger. I would visit again as I can't have some of the other exotic items further inside Animal Kingdom and usually don't want usual items I can get elsewhere

I cannot wait to try the Canteen on our trip in March. I might even eat there both our lunches on our AK days if it is as good as I hope.

Thank you for the review!!!!

I have to agree with OP, this is far and away the best Disney Quick Service I have ever had! The grilled beef bowl with the sweet potato hash base was awesome.
If you don't get the kale base, it is nothing like a salad bowl btw.

9D844432-B038-41FE-A947-EEA1B03EECF6.jpeg I got the chicken with the kale base and creamy herb dressing. Was it a salad? Sure was. But it was a dang good salad lol

We ate here last week. It was not crowded at all. Ds had the cheeseburger pods. He thought they were OK. I thought they were pretty doughy.
I had the kale salad with chicken and creamy herb dressing. Ds said he wished he had ordered that after I let him taste mine. We both loved it.
We shared the blueberry dessert which was good.
We would def. go back again.

Couldn't agree more. Did Satuli Canteen this past week for the first time. As far as QS restaurants go, this place is fantastic. I'm not a hugely adventurous eater, but knew my wife would appreciate the menu so we went. Had the chicken with the romaine and kale base and black bean vinegarette and I ALMOST talked myself into skipping Flame Tree BBQ on our 2nd AK day to go back and eat there again (almost. Love Flame Tree!). :-)

LOL I did the same thing. I ate at Satuli first and enjoyed the chicken bowl with potato hash and chimichurri sauce. Blueberry cheesecake dessert was great. I then almost switched out my next day's lunch at Flame Tree to go back. Almost because I love my Flame Tree & couldn't give it up even for a/c in a brand new place.
