Do not like the new ticket system!

I don't understand? You can go for 7 days with the hopper add-on for only like $4 more than the cost of a 5-day Park Hopper.
Why would you feel like you are getting the better deal with your 5-day hopper by spending just a few dollars less. Just curious. I just want to know if I am missing something.

My 5 day hopper cost 244.95. If Im doing it right, to get a 7 day hopper with no expriation(237.50+ 58.58), it would come to 296.04...$51.00 more. Yes, I would get 2 more days for the 51.00, but I dont need those days, as I will most likely have APs on other trips. I wanted to use 1 day on our upcoming trip and save 4 days for another trip when I wont have APs. Of course, I dont know what the future may being and I may or may not have APs when I think I will, but from what I can see happening, I only need 4 extra days. So to get 2 7 day MYW tickets Id be spending an extra 100.00 for 4 days DH & I dont need.

Okay - you are saying that because you only want to use 1 day, the current park hopper ticket for you is the best options, correct? If not, then I am missing something.

Magic Your Way Base Ticket
(gate price for admission to one theme park per day, including tax)

# Days Adult (ages 10 and up) Child (ages 3-9)
1 $63.63 $51.12
2 $126.74 $102.24
3 $182.12 $145.91
4 $197.03 $157.62
5 $205.55 $165.08
6 $208.74 $167.21
7 $211.94 $170.40
10 $222.59 $177.86

Red is 7-day park pass @ 211.94 + Park Hopper Option - Adding the Park-Hopper Option lets you come and go as you please through all four Disney theme parks on the same day or every day for each day of your pass. Extra cost on top of the base-price ticket is a flat rate of $35 ($37.28 with tax). This works out to just over $5 per day on a seven-day ticket, but obviously it adds a lot proportionally to the cost of a one-day ticket.

7 day MYW Ticket - 211.94+37.28 = 246.94 (with taxes)
5-Day Park Hopper 244.95

Even a 5-day would cost less = $205.55 + 35 = 240.55.

I think you are missing the No Expire Option. The MYW expires after 14 days, so if you want some of those 5 days to be available after the 14 days you would have to add the $35 on top of the 5 day MYW or $55 on top of the 7 day MYW. Purchasing MYW tickets for a trip in which you will use all the days of your pass, is the best way to go, but if you wanted to spread those 5 days out across a year then it would be cheaper to buy a current 5 day Park Hopper.

That is unless I have completely screwed up the math.

Exactly! ;) Like I said in one of my previous posts, these tickets can be a better deal if they fit your needs, but for what I need, one of the old hoppers is better. I really think it depends on what a person needs for them to be good or bad for them.

However I think the 211.94 is for a base ticket for 7 days. From what Im seeing, a 7 day ticket with hopping ability starts at 237.50, then its another 58.58 to never expire.

Hi Friends,
I sit in the "prefer Park Hopper" camp just because it is my nature to resist change! :smooth:. The fact that the passes never expired was just a wonderful Disney policy.

I just bought two 5 day Park Hoppers off of the Disney website for my early grade school age kids. We probably will go 3 days this year and 2 days next year to Disney parks.

I don't think that the Biometric system will apply to the existing Hopper passes... but have you thought about the new passes that will be purchased for children with the "do not expire" option??? There is no way biometrics could work for growing children... From what I understand, one of the items the biometrics system uses for reference is finger length. Any thoughts?? Experts is this true???

We have annual passes to Sea World. This year they began using Biometrics with their annual passes. The children had to stick their fingers on the machine just like the adults. The passes are only good for one to two years.

Thanks

You are correct, Bytheblood did not figure in the no expiration on that ticket which would obviously be needed if you are planning on returning with the ticket. So the 5 day MYW ticket ($193 plus tax) with park hopping ($35 plus tax) and no expration ($35 plus tax) would cost you $263 before taxes so the old 5 day hopper is in fact your better option...in this scenario!

A 7 day ticket ($199 plus tax) with park hopping ($35 plus tax) and no expiration ($55 plus tax) would in fact cost you ($289 plus tax) which would be $59 plus tax difference for each ticket, which would not be bad if you planned on using all 7 days at some point, but if you are planning on geting AP's then it is not the best option.

My son who is 8 didn't have to do biometrics with our AP's last summer. Maybe the new tickets will be like that too.

I am pretty sure that the biometrics that Disney uses is finger geometry.

Biometrics don't work on small children because their hands are always growing and changing. Your child will not have to worry about it until he/she is 10... even then the hands are still growing so don't be alarmed if the machine buzzes and the have to push some buttons to allow he/she into the parks.

Biometrics will not be assigned to any park hopper purchased prior to Jan 2nd.

MY FAMILY OF 5 ARE GOING IN FEB.WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY WITH THE 4 DAY PARK HOPPER.WE CAN GO TO 2 PARKS A DAY IF WE WANT AND IF SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN AND HAD TO LEAVE EARLY IT WOULD NEVER EXPIRE.WITH THE NEW TICKET WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $175 MORE FOR THOSE OPITIONS.WE RUSHED TO OUR DISNEY STORE THIS MORNING AND BOUGHT OUR 4 DAY PARK HOPPERS.THE NEW TICKETS DON'T WORK FOR US.MAYBE IF WE STAYED LONGER AND DID OTHER THINGS(WATER PARKS)IT MIGHT.Sorry for the caps.

Bought 4 day PH's at my local AAA store for $213 each, couple of bucks cheaper than the Disney store (my next option). We always park hop, sometimes 3 parks a day and don't go to Disney that often, so this worked out the cheapest in the long run. We just do the theme parks too, so don't need the plusses.

To the person going for 9 days. I think the 10 day MYW with expiration would be cheaper than a discounted DVC pass. I believe the AP rates are going up a touch but even if they aren't your DVC price would be about $303 but a 10 day premium expiring MYW would be $307 but you also get 5 entries to Waterparks, PI and DQ with that. The AP works better only if you can go to Disney at least 11 times in a year...even with the DVC discount.

No, I am not missing that. That is what I was trying to clarify.

Personnally, I like them. I like the idea that it is only going to cost me a little over $2.00 more to have 7 days at the parks, instead of 5 days. I think it will make our next trip a little more relaxed and we will come and go from the parks more. Plus, the 7 day advance ticket price with park hopping is cheaper than a 5 day park hopper is. Works for me. :D

Also, the old tickets were not supposed to be transferable, so the fact that you will not be able to use someone elses tickets shouldn't be all that different. The kicker is, Disney has finally closed the loop hole and now can prevent the unexpired days from being sold or transferred and I think that is what people do not like about it.

I'm not so sure "that is what people do not like about it". I don't like that I have to pay for every little thing I liked about the park hoppers to begin with! I usually buy AP's for myself and DH, but we are taking dd, dsil, dgs & dgd next sept, so we have to figure out what we need and what we will buy. I've never bought or sold unused passes, and I bet most of us haven't. We do, however, collect them and keep them all together in my fanny pack, then just pass them out at the gates. That is for convenience sake and to keep kids from losing them, no other reason.

I will just have to get used to them and take a little more time to decide what to purchase.

So, I'll have to bring the kids' birth certificates with now? Except for my dd who is in high school (who has her high school ID), none of the other children have any type of ID's!!! And the birth certificates don't have pictures on them, so I guess that wouldn't work, either. Hmmm...Disney would have to give out receipts.

Mary

We have been getting AP's for years and kids don't need any type of ID only the parents....also each ID has a name on it just like the new MYW tickets...it is very easy to hand to one parent and pass out to everybody when needed....and as far as biometric only adults use the bio machines kids tickets don't need it....

It doesn't affect me because I purchase AP's but it really isn't as bad as it origainally sounded....and the are reconfiguring the entrys for more ticket booths to get more people in faster...

I was also considering to buy my park hoppers thru our local AAA, but they don't carry them here anymore. Has anyone else run into this problem? Could I call one in another state to mail them to me? ANyone one know?

Normally we get a 4 or 5 day hopper. We don't need any extras and we stick to MK and Epcot except for one night we head over to MGM to see Fantasmic. So I'm going to have to pay extra for that 5 hours I spend at MGM....sounds like crap to me. *thumbs down*

I'm not concerned w/passes expiring though....we buy what we need and nothing more

Actually if you do the math you would be SAVING money with the new MYW 5 day with hopping (vs the current 5 day hopper) and paying the SAME price give or take a dollar for the MYW 4 day ticket with hopping vs the current 4 day hopper.

The current 4 day hopper is $219 plus tax for adults and $176 plus tax for kids (3-9). With MYW, the 4 day ticket with park hopping is $220 plus tax for adults and $180 plus tax for kids (3-9), so $4 more if you have kids.

The current 5 day hopper is $249 plus tax for adults and $200 for kids (3-9).
The 5 day MYW ticket with hopping would actually SAVE you money as the adult ticket with hopping would be $228 plus tax and the kids ticket would be $190 plus tax...

So in reality you are not paying extra for the 5 hours at MGM you are paying what you would have paid anyway (and/or saving some money based on how many days you purchase).

The more days you buy, the more you save. Other than the 4 day pass, most everything else will save you money! I think these tickets are going to work well once we all get used to them, but until then, expect slower lines at the ticket windows, front desks and Guest Relations.
