I just playing around with Fast Pass online since it my 1st day i can do this and frankly, i DO NOT LIKE IT! First of all, you HAVE to choose 3 and they pick the times for you in different segments...It does not work the way i want to work the times around my dining times and all. I think it STINKS!!! Why don't they let you pick 1 attraction at a time? :headache:

Once you've selected your three you can go in and individually change the times of each attraction to suit your needs better.

yes...sometimes the best thing to do is to let it pick times that are exactly the opposite of the times you want, and then go back in and change the times to the ones you do want (you won't be allowed to move an FP to a slot that is already occupied by another FP, so it may work better to allow the system to initially book them at times you are sure you don't want for anything.)

Once you've made your 3 FP choices based on their suggested times, you can go to your itinerary page on MDE and select the day of FPs you want to change, then select 'update your fastpass+'. Then ' Change a Fastpass+ selection for a new selection or time'

Then you can pick from all the times that are still available (as long as you don't have an overlapping FP) :)

DD13 was sitting next to me as I made our selections last night and about 10 mins into it she says, "this seems unecessarily complicated". Truer words were never spoken. I managed fine bc I knew to expect this but it seemed the navigation process of making these selections is "clumsy" for lack of a better word. Like taking a twisted, dirt path through the woods rather than then the straight, paved one that cuts right through the middle.

Yeah ... in tech terms, the user interface is less than intuitive. Frankly, Disney REALLY needs to bring in some designers to tweak the input sections. They tried to dumb it down for novices and ended up confusing anybody who's ever used a decent app before. Sadly, they seem to be frustrating their repeat customers the most, and that's NEVER a good thing.

Maybe two gateways would work? One for complete manual selection and one for those who just want Disney to do the work.

Why tell us it doesn't work how you want it to work? Send email to guest services they can at least get the feed back to the people hat can change it.

Personally the book what you want then change the times works fine for me. But I've been using the system for just under a year now.

I guess my question is why pick then one at a time? I'd rather pick the three and the see what I can do for times than pick one and try to figure out the time Pick another and and find out the time for #1 is blocking #2 go back fix the time etc. THAT seems needlessly complex to me. Generally i pick 3 it gives me my options I pick the one with the headliners at reasonable times and don't care about the third then I fix the third time.

They are sharing their experience, and quite frankly I appreciate it, as well as many of the tips that come out off Disboarder's experiences.

When I was booking our FP+ selections this morning, there were many cases where Disney's best option (and even A, B, C options) overlapped with an existing ADR. It even noted this for me on the FP+ selection, not that I wasn't aware since I made these ADRs back in March. I found the easiest way get everything how I wanted it was to pick three attractions, let MDE pick the times, and confirm. Then, I immediately went back in and moved everything around to times that actually worked for me. It seems like they could do something to streamline this process.

I agree.....the best is to pick the option with complete opposite times. B/c then you don't have to move things around twice.

Agree with this.

OP, I can definitely understand your frustration and it is a pain, but once you've got the three options you want, it shouldn't be too difficult to move them around. I've just gone back into mine today (20 days after initially booking) to move some times around, as we've changed our ADR to accommodate attending the Dessert Party at DHS.

I hope you manage to get the times you want :) :goodvibes

I am pretty optimistic and I TRY to see the best in everything. But I am also super aggravated in having to plan out our whole day and what ride we are going to ride when. I love park hopping and I find it super annoying that I MUST pick 3 attractions when I only want 1. Everyone keeps telling me to make sure that I schedule them early in the morning so I could park hop and get more FP selections but some of the popular attractions like Anna Elsa and 7DMT is only available late at night.

I also feel that by being forced to pick 3 FP that I am keeping someone that might really want a FP from getting one.

Disney has made this "complicated" on purpose. They are not trying to cater to the power users. They want to spread fast pass times out as much as possible. An inexperienced user is likely to just pick one of the "sets" that Disney suggests.

The could do the following:
Wizard Mode (auto picks times)
Custom Mode (you pick specific times)

In the end the Disney gives you 3 times is likely the best when times start to become scarce at certain parts of the day as it works to fit them in the best it can.

If anything they just need on the pick your option page a big bold disclaimer stating you can move the times around on the next screen.

Honestly, it could be worse. In fact, it WAS worse.

Sure, it doesn't take into account your ADRs...but then neither did the old system. I remember our one day at HS last trip, rope drop time I rushed ahead to get the TSM FPs...and they conflicted with our ADR for lunch...and nothing I could do...we were lucky that the CM at TSM honored them when we arrived an hour after expiration...plus, getting to book THREE per day in each park (even before rope drop) when before you got ONE and you couldn't get a second until you used it or it expired and you had to be able to run quickly at rope drop for Soarin or TSM or else you wouldn't get one at all.

I know it is a popular past time here to complain about FP+, but it is such an improvement over what the system was that I am inclind to overlook the new flaws as this is a step up. To complain about this system not giving you your perfect times is like the drowning man complaining that the life guard has bad breath.

We are arriving sometime around noon and also planning two water park days. FP+ allows us to have 3 FP for the evening in the parks those days. To me this is the biggest advantage of FP+. With the old system you would not be able to get FP for the most popular attractions if you arrived in the parks mid to late afternoon.

As for the rest... I am hoping it is mostly a wash.

Technically you are not required to use FP. You can opt to just ignore/skip it all together

And so you want only 1 but it makes you pick 3 at first. Pick 3 and then delete the ones you don't want. It's a tad bit of effort but honestly, a few seconds and clicks on your keyboard. Not that big a PITA.

Now, is FP+ the best thing since sliced bread, no. But it's got a lot of perks and most of the stuff I see complained about are easily worked with. OP doesn't like the times it picked. No biggie, much like deleting the ones you don't want you can move the times to when you do want. I think between all the pros and cons most of the time the pros do win out

Stop being a HP US troll, lol

I agree the system requires you to choose things you have no intention of doing, go back to point A to change one of the, go back to point A to change another then go back to point A to change the last. Seems like about 9 unnecessary steps

You know, at first I felt the same way. BUT then I really sat down and utilized it...I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It was convenient just basically showing up to the ride knowing we were all set.

The only negative I found this time, was that when we were leaving the park earlier than expected I tried to cancel hoping to give others the opportunity...and it would not work . Kept getting an error message :headache:

Thank you all again for suggestions and tips....While i am a Fastpass plus newbie but a Disney Oldie, i didn't know you can customized it afterwards so i did that and i am satisfied of the times line ups for fast passes....Thank you so much all!!! Couldn't plan this without the DIS! :thumbsup2
