Just got back from Disney over labor day weekend.
Our family was on the dining plan and enjoyed every restaurant we ate at EXCEPT Alfredo's.

Alfredo's was beyond bad. The wait staff is horrible--it took 2 hours to eat there and meals for each person were brought out at separate times. I received my appetizer 15 minutes before my husband and kids. The same thing happened with my dinner. The staff was very rude when you would ask them for anything. We were seated by the kitchen and very close to another table ...the backs of the chairs were touching each other. Half way through the meal, a person at the other table threw up their meal. The wait staff and/or management did nothing about it! I could not believe it. Then there is the quality of the food--horrific! Thank goodness we were not paying out of pocket for the meal. The entrees were 20-30 each and they were slop on a plate. I have been to better meals at Fazoli's. If I worked at Disney I would be embarrassed to call this a restaurant. I spoke with the manager about my experience and all he said was I am sorry you feel that way. I plan on writing Disney about this just to let them know how bad my experience was...I don't expect to get anything out of it. I would hope they take comments seriously though and look to make changes. I know that I will not go to Italy again for a very long time.

We went to Alfredo's a few years ago for our 25th Anniversary trip. It was on our anniversary and I was told that this was the most romantic restaurant in Epcot. We arrived and were seated elbow to elbow with parties on each side of us. It was like eating family style and it was a little upsetting as I wanted a nice quiet dinner for me and my husband. I was not impressed with the food at all...it wasn't horrible but wasn't anything really good either. I don't plan on going back there again. We are leaving in 6 days and have a hole list of ADR's that we will be trying this year.

Alfredo's is the only dining venue at WDW I ever took the time to write Disney about. We tried 4 times thinking maybe we caught Alfredo's on a bad night.Bad food and service all 4 time's and not even a thank you when I paid for this slop.I don't like to reply to Alfredo's post's because many love it and I think you should go to most restaurants and form your own opinion.I posted today because I don't want you to think you're the only one that wouldn't eat at this joint again unless someone held a shotgun on me.

Does anyone know if they have added more tables due to the dining plan? We have an ADR for 10/5, maybe we should change ....

I had heard their alfredo was wonderful, which is one of my favorites.

I've read more good reviews than bad... but am concerned with yours since it's the most recent. By any chance is the free dining plan affecting service and quality of food?

Wondering if I should make adr somewhere else?

All right, I caved.

I just got off the phone with Disney dining. I switched from Alfredo's to Le Cellier. In New England, we have fabulous Italian food all around us. I'll try for a good steak instead!

I've been to Alfredo's 3 times and all of my experiences were not good. The tables are crowded, the service is non-existent to rushed. Each time we said that maybe it was a bad night. I've now decided that it was not a bad night, just not one of the better restaurants at Epcot. The food was ok, not great. I have as good or better Italian food near home. In my opinion, if I was looking for a very good, quiet restaurant for a nice meal then I would go to Bistro de Paris. Without a doubt, the best restaurant at Epcot.

we went once yrs ago and thought itwas snobby service, "Ragu" style over priced food...the menu looked better now but probably would not try again

My sister and I ate there about 2 years ago and were not all that impressed. We went during a slow time of day, so we really didn't have to deal with a crowded restaurant, but we were still seated VERY closely to the other folks in the restaurant. It felt odd how they clustered us together while the rest of the restuarant was virtually empty. We also felt the wait staff was snobby and the meal was just ok.

Pennyplanner,

Just got back from a trip with free dining two weeks ago. We ate at Lecellier and had great food! I got the surf and turf which was good, but the beef was done a bit more than I like. Because it was free, DH got the 20 oz rib eye. It was fabulous, I ate much of it. We had a large group and tried almost all of the appetizers. The tomato stack and beef kabobs were standouts. I had the desert sampler found the creme brulee too sweet, but enjoyed the whiskey cake and sorbet a lot.

Enjoy your trip. We ate at Alfredo's in 1989 on our honeymoon and will never go back. The food was terrible.

Nan

I always knew it was too crowded in there--but the rest of your experience is pretty sad.

I went to Alfredos a lot in the early 90's and didn't like it but tried it again in May of 2005. I thought it was fabulous. We were not crowded at all, had an great waitress and the food was delicious. A little pricey, but very yummy.

WOW! Thanks for the review. I remember eating here in 2003 and I remember loving it. While I was reading your post, I also started to remember that it was VERY crowded and slightly rushed. But I am SO SAD to hear that the management did nothing about the person near you getting sick! Awful awful awful. I know the restaurant probably didn't cause the person to get sick, but they should have offered something to you - for customer service sake alone! Eek - I'll remember THAT!

We had a great experience there in 2002. Granted that was three years ago, and lots can change, but the service was excellent. The server was great, and the food was very good. Some of the best italian food I've ever had, and I've been to Italy. The tiramisu was fabulous.

I do recall the tables being close together, but found that to be the case in most WDW restaurants. I also recall the food being more 'authentic' italian than traditional Americanized italian.

IMO if you want to try a restaurant you should try it. Just because some people had a bad experience there doesn't mean you won't love it. Heck, I didn't care for 'Ohana's , but most everybody seems to love it. I'm glad I tried it, though. Also even the best restaurants can have an off night. But yes, if someone threw up next to me at any restaurant I doubt I'd ever go back!

Sorry you had such a bad experience

Personally we love the food there as I feel is very authentic Southern Italian food. I lived there for a few years. I do agree that the restaurant is crowded but if you were ever in Italy, most of the restaurants there are crowded and you feel like you are dining with the people next to you.

There is never any reason for rudeness

I do think that the restaurant is overpriced for some of its items

We have never had bad service, I usually speak to them in Italian

Our experience was much like this. We went in the early 90s and weren't impressed. After a long time of not going, in 2003, we went for lunch simply because rain was coming and forgot our ponchos and umbrellas. We were seated right away and were surprised that it was pretty good. Because of that experience, we went back this past August for dinner.

I will say this. The tables are too close together and the food is overpriced (for dinner -- we liked the prices for lunch). We also wish they had a larger menu. That being said, we like Alfredo's...not enough to go there every trip, but enough to visit every third trip or so.

::yes::

Along with snobby service, the service was soooooo slow.

Never again .. can you say chef-boy-arde (or how ever it's spelled!!) Food was TERRIBLE ... sticky pasta, horrid sauce, clumpy cheese sauce .. just disgusting. And, we got to pay 70 for the experience .. NO NO NO .. never again. Disney has many wonderful dining options ... this isn't one of them.

When was the last time you were there?
I actually think this is the only place in Disney that has decent Tomato sauce.

We've never had a bad experience there. We first ate there over 6 years ago, and only as recently as 2 years ago. Food and service have always been good - never recall any rude wait staff. (Now France, that was another story!)

Sorry to hear about all these bad experiences. We haven't been back recently cuz we are just too hooked on Mexico and China. But we will probably go back to Italy to check it out for ourselves.
