This would really be perfect. I think we would almost certainly pick 10-12It would be lovely if we could pick the intrusion time. In a 2 hour range.

No surprises. You know when you come back at 2 your room will be done. Easy peasy

That seems a bit extreme to me, but I guess I just don't feel that strongly about the new policy. I may be wrong, but I suspect most people will adjust and Disney will go on as usual. Others will choose different vacation spots. If this intrusion becomes widespread? I will rent a house, whenever possible. Or, perhaps just vacation out of the country.
The problem with this is that if they really want to try to sell this as a security check, they can't announce when they will do it.This would really be perfect. I think we would almost certainly pick 10-12
I would love this too. At a recent non disney stay we had crappy service. One day they hadn't come by 4. And this was club level. Was not happy. So I would love to be able to choose a timeframe that worked for me

It is like pulling every 5th person for the extra TSA check. Or choosing every 6th person for the metal detector at Magic Kingdom.
All of that should be random. If it is a real security check. Of course since it isn't, they certainly should be able to
They're making people leave the room?! I missed that one.We leave our room usually by 11 am and don't return until later in the evening. We have come back for a quick mid-afternoon stop and a lot of times our room wasn't serviced yet. Sometimes we call for some fresh towels- usually no big deal. But now it IS a big deal. if we come back at 3pm to a dirty room and even though we didn't have a room occupied sign on since morning, should we decide to rest until dinner, we will be visited by someone who will bang on our door and demand we leave our room for inspection???? WOW!
They're making people leave the room?! I missed that one.
Usually, yes. I've never heard otherwise. The post about the marathoner at WL says they demanded to service her room- do they let you stay in the room while they do so?
I didn't say that they made anyone leave the room. They're making people leave the room?! I missed that one.

My sister is a manager at a hotel, and I asked her if this type of thing would be feasible. She said there would be a lot of issues in the implementation because the housekeepers would have trouble keeping track of the time each room wanted to be done due to turnover. For example, on Monday, room 100 wants 10-12, and on Tuesday and Wednesday a different guest in room 100 wants 8-10, and then Thursday a different guest wants 12-2, etc. Then multiply this by the number of rooms a housekeeper is assigned to and you can see there is a lot of room for error if a housekeeper gets the wrong information, or if a guest extends a stay. There might actually be more inconvenient visits than there are with the current policy. I still wish it could be done this way, and I am very nervous about my stay at Pop later this month because if I am awakened early, I not only can't get back to sleep but I will be in a foul mood all day because I'm sleep deprived. Not exactly how a person wants to spend a vacation. I am holding on to hope that maybe it won't be as bad as I think - but there are a lot more people reporting back that they have had issues than those who have not.
Software could easily print out a schedule of rooms to be done and when.
what happens if most rooms pick the same time frame? who decides which room gets done firstIt would be lovely if we could pick the intrusion time. In a 2 hour range.

I relate to the dislike of the new policy's negative impact to innocent guests, but I wonder if hotel practices in most other countries would actually be even more intrusive?Spend my tourism money in a country other than the USA if that's the direction this goes.
On our way to the airport now after a 2 night stay at the Poly. DH ran the marathon yesterday so the kids and I had breakfast and hung out in the room. Housekeeping came by around 9:45 and I politely declined cleaning as we were checking out today. After he got back and a nap we were getting ready to leave for HDDR; it was around 2:30 when a gentleman came to the door and said our room was on the list of rooms for security check. I told him we were on our way out within 10 minutes and he just waited for us to leave, no insistance or intrusion. In fact, he knocked so lightly that he had to knock twice because I didn’t realize what the noise was the first time.
Wasn’t bad because he didn’t force his way in or bang on the door as others have reported, but not totally random either as we told him to wait a few minutes. Totally would have had time to put away weapon etc if we had them.
