I eat lots of fresh mushrooms. But there is no nutritional info on the package I buy. What are the benefits of mushrooms?

Mushrooms are a particularly rich source of riboflavin. One portabella mushroom takes care of nearly one-third our daily value; a serving of white or crimini mushrooms supplies one-quarter of what we need daily. Vegetarians should also be aware that mushrooms are one of the best plant-based sources of niacin around.

One can never have too much niacin or fiboflabbin.

Believe it or not mushrooms are high in fiber and Vitamin C- almost as much C as potatoes (which have more than even citrus fruits!).

They are also high in copper and they taste great sauteed and on a steak.

You get something just plain yummy and good for your soul, but still feel like you're walking on the wild side.

Be a bad boy and grill up a portabella!

Just don't try to harvest your own....it is a dangerous vegetable.

Well, the Charlie Sheen of veggies...somewhat on the dark, wildside....but if you recognize it...it's something of note...if not, could be VERY harmful...

Do you think Charlie Sheen would be mad at being compared to a mushroom...and he's the "safe" version???

From one of the links above:

Per serving:
(5 medium mushrooms)
• Only 20 calories
• Only 3 grams of carbohydrate
• Virtually fat free

I like to substitute mushrooms for a meat course. Like beans, they are that satisfying to me.

So a mushroom walks into a bar. The bartender says, "We don't serve your kind in here." The mushroom says, "Why not? I'm a fungi!" (fun guy...get it? :rotfl: )

Okay, I'll shut up now. Carry on.

Nope, and they're yucky too. :rotfl2: :duck: :moped: :flower3:

Some people cannot eat mushrooms, especially if they have a deficiency of an enzyme called trehalase.

The carbohydrate in mushrooms is trehalose, a di-sacchride. If you are trehalase-deficient, well, mushrooms would make you very uncomfortable, gassy, and socially unacceptable.

Don't shrooms just make you feel real good? :confused3

I was wondering if he was talking the legal or illegal ones?

Speaking of legal mushrooms, my DH has the strangest dreams after eating Portabello mushrooms. I don't like portabello mushrooms or I'd see if they did anything for me. :rotfl:
