We are having a hard time deciding on a costume. Do most people dress in something Disney while attending the party ? We were thinking of not doing a Disney related costume. Would that be alright or would we look out of place ?

Lots of people don't dress up at all and you see quite an assortment of costumes from the ones that do, so no, you wouldn't be out of place at all.

Last time we went, my daughter was Boo (complete with "Little Mikey") and I was "Boo's Dad"!

We went 2 years ago as Thing 1 (DS), Thing 2 (me) and The Cat (DH). So no worries about non-Disney costumes. I think the only comment I got was mock distress from the cast member at the entrance for wearing a "Universal" costume. But it was all in good fun. And most thought it was cute for DS and I to be Thing 1 & 2.

I've seen lots of pirates, thing 1,2,3,4 etc., Hitchhiking ghosts, dorothy, princess liea, shrek, shrek's girl ( i don't remember her name), my Dh the skunk has been called every skunk charcter name out there except one he's supossed to be. I went as a nurse one year, Dutch girl another, minnie, friend has gone as Dorothy including ruby slippers, pluto, a pirate princess. Of course lots of lil tykes go as princesses, pirates. I saw spotted pups, creuella, ursula, captain hook, mr. smee, tink.

Ok thanks everyone. Hope I figure out what we will be soon. A lot of costumes on the internet seem to be for people wanting to look sexy really short and low cut on the top :rotfl: I really dont want that type of look.

Defintely!! Last year my DBF and I were Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. He just wore a green t-shirt that had a kermit body on it and I wore a pink boa, a pigglet ear headband I got from party city, purple elbow high gloves and a white coat. We got tons of compliments and it was just a make-shift thing that we thought would be easy to carry in our luggage. :thumbsup2

One of the memorable costumes I saw was someone dressed with the "Scream" ghost face and black robe, driving a car in Tommorowland Speedway. :rotfl2: We saw all kinds of costumes!

Last year, I was Giselle from Enchanted (and everyone thought I was Wendy Darling :sad2: ) and a Mickey Fan Girl (I threw that together. Mickey Mouse Tee Shirt, Black Skirt, Black Leggings and sparkly Minnie ears).

This year I don't know what I'm going to do for my first party (I'm going between Amy Pond from Doctor Who (even if my mom says "no one will get that" even if I saw MANY Doctors last year :sad2: ), Snow White from Snow White and the Huntsman (the ripped dress. there are patterns available....even if I'm not a Kristen Stewart fan, that costume was pretty cool), Kingdom Tour dress Ariel because I'm hoping to dye my hair even redder before our trip :rotfl2: or even Molly Aster from the play Peter and the Starcatcher, because I have the outfit already (I wore it to see the show. Celia Keenan-Bolger, who plays Molly, loved my outfit and said it was perfect :cool1: )).

The second, I'm going to be Katherine Plumber from Newsies the Musical in her "King of New York" outfit. :cool1: I don't even care if people don't recognize her. I've had my heart set on this since I first saw Newsies in April. My mom made my period skirt yesterday and it's wonderful. I'm excited to be Katherine so far. :cool1:

I think abour half do. Remember it can be very hot and humid during this time of year.

I do see lots of people wearing special tee-shirts. We did a 50's Theme one year poodle skirts, matching shirts and saddle shoes. Another year we did a Roaring Twenties Theme.

We will be returning next September not sure what we will be wearing yet. I always try to plan something I know we won't roast in.

I'm thinking about ordering villian shirts.

My DH is not one to dress up in costume so I made tee shirts. I found the transfer on the Creative Disigns website, printed them out, iron on and they looked fantastic. Did the Mickey head pumpkin one year and we were stoppped and asked where we bought them. These people are so talented.

Thanks for all your posts,
I'm thinking of making a Pocahontas costume. I bet there are a lot of Pocahontas ? I just thought I could make it with a long night t shirt and sew some stripes of material on for the fringe. Or maybe cut fringe strips on the bottom and paint them with acrylic paint. I'm not sure, I just thought this would be comfortable and not hot. What does anyone think of this idea ? To many Pocahontas's ? My DGD wants to be Tinkerbell. I kind of wanted to go as related characters but we both have different ideas lol. I looked for a Silvermist costume to go with Tinkerbell but I didnt see any for an adult. Who knows we have changed our minds 3 times now :rotfl:

We are going to the MNSSHP dressed as rock stars. I have wondered the same thing as you. But I wanted something different and something that we would not overheat in. I hope to put together a video to music with our theme being "DisneyRocks!" Putting our costumes tovtgether has been so fun! Can't wait for October! Good luck on deciding!

Many costumes are not Disney related. I wore Lederhosen with an Alpine hat and my DW wore a poodle skirt with saddle shoes.

Well guess we may not buy a Tinkerbell costume online after reading the reviews on the costumes we liked. One said the wings would not stay on and the other said the costume was itchy and they had to wear clothing under it :sad2:. Does anyone know of a Tinkerbell costume that is comfortable and made well ?

That sounds fun ! You could write (DISNEY ROCKS!) on your shirts with glow in the dark paint.

To me it's like any other Halloween party, wear whatever you want to!

DW and I will be going as The Blue Barracudas (90's game shows for the win!) in full regalia and we're looking forward to the comments we get at the park!

I think we will just be whatever we want and not worry about being Disney related. But now we are interested in the Disney characters Tinkerbell and Pocahontas, Who knows we keep changing our minds :rotfl:

My aunt went as a classic Mouseketeer one year.

I'm not sure what to dress as either. I kind of want to do something "classic" halloween, like the sort of costume the characters would be wearing (you know, Minnie dresses as a witch, etc), but I don't like anything too scary.
