Do Most of You Fly to WDW?

You guys are awesome!:thumbsup2
Thanks for all the advice and input. I am definitely going to give it the 'ol college try and book my first flight as an adult to WDW.
I'm a resigned to the fact that DH and I can no longer handle the 18+ hour drive. So airplanes and God-willing I will arrive at AKV on May 3rd 2009.

We are from Maryland. We started out flying down the first few times. Then we drove down twice. The past few times we have taken the Auto Train down. When we go next August, we are going to take the Auto Train again. My DDs like it, and we get to have our minivan with us and can pack it with everything we need for a 2 week trip.

I am in Maryland too (Montgomery Co) Can I ask where you go to pick up the auto train and about how much it costs with your van? That is priced per person and by vehicle size (weight) right? I have an SUV which I would assume would cost about the same as a van. Do you go to Lorton, VA to pick it up or downtown DC? Just a couple more dumb questions...do you just keep like a carry-on bag with you and leave the rest of your luggage in your van? How many hours does it take? And FINALLY, the train doesn't go to Orlando, does it? Where does it drop you off and how far is it then to WDW?
THANKS!:goodvibes

I'm not who you are asking, but there's a whole thread (or more) devoted to details about the auto train on the Transportation Board here. That may answer a lot of your questions.

Good luck booking your trip. Please let us know how it went. I hope you have a wonderful trip! :yay:

We're near Chicago (Rockford) too and have only driven to WDW twice and that was when the kids were young. I don't like to go anywhere now where I have to drive if it's over 2 hours. Sometimes we can get better prices flying from Milwaukee instead of O'Hare depending on where you live.

Good luck with your trip planning!

we fly. I hate to fly. But yet we fly. 3 kids in a car for 18 hrs. No thank you. I pop my dramamine original and sleep. DH is on kid duty.

We usually fly to Sandford from Allentown on Allegiant Air. The prices are low and going to and from a small airport makes it easier.

We drove to HH last Easter and it took us 12 hours. I think longer than that would be too much.
