Do Men Love Disney Resorts, too?

You know before we had our daughter Disney wasnt even on the menu for us. Now I cant imagine going anywhere else, well except hawaii but we really love taking her to disney, with just the 3 of us its relaxing and fun for everyone.

As a male, we started going to Disney in 1977 with our first born, boy, kept going till daughter came along 7 years later. Still made the trips down just about every year. Son goes to clooege, graduates and wants to go back with us of grad gift. Daughter goes to college, gets 4 years in, and does the Disney college program. Six months of sheer heaven, her words, and he check in date for the program was Sept 11, 2001, really took my breath away. Came back to Ohio, finished here degree and went back to Florida and Disney for a job, gave Florida one year, but Disney jobs with her degree weren't there and the money was bad and returned to Columbus where she lives. We still go to Disney, me and wifey, both middle 50's, usually our daught still makes it down with her financee, whom she met while on the college program, last year they both came with us and he proposed to her, front of MK, where they had their firts date. Being married this October and after a cruise honeymoon, asked if we would meet them at Disney World for 10 days at the Wilderness Lodge, why sure we would, we were going anyway. Its still in our blood, male or female after all these years and experiences and would go no place else, Disney has it all, period!

That's us, too! We could obviously go just about anywhere but we keep alternating vacations between the Hawaiian islands and Disney (usually WDW). Well, we did try the Caribbean last fall...but it was a cruise with DISNEY!!

I love hearing about the interest in the animitronics and the relaxation factor...for me, its always about that Disney feel I just love staying someplace like GF after a park day and feeling like grown-up Belle or something.

I just do it for DW and the kids. Been that way since we first went in 1975. Hated all 34 trips since but it keeps them happy. And can't stand those princesses, particularly Ariel's shells, Pocahantas's legs, or Jasmine's harem outfit. As I tell DW everytime she thinks she has caught me ogling, "They just get the ugliest girls to play those parts." .[/QUOTE]

:rotfl:

I love Disney Resorts, as do my wife and kids. In fact, we play the "Which Resort is it? game to pass the time in the car.

Went to WDW for honeymoon....DH's first trip...he initially didn't want to honeymoon there, but Hawaiian dream vacation was to expensive for us then so we switched. He was an instant convert! We've gone back each year since! He loves the characters!!!

DH got me hooked on disney! I wanted somewhere "romantic" on our honeymoon, he insisted on Disney. I fell in love instantly. Now with kids, we both find it even more magical.

BTW, I find WDW very romantic now.

DH is a convert. He had grown up with superhero's and his dad had a stroke when DH was 5, so he never really travelled any where further than Wisconsin and Minnesota, we live in Northern Il. DH picked WDW as our honeymoon destination and we have been back roughly every 2 years since. He also had a convention in March of 2001, and one option was to go to a Disney theme park for a day, guess what he chose. I usually let him have more of a say so in resort choices but I do have veto power.

have you ever seen cinderella? of course guys "get into" the princess thing.

My DH is more of a mermaid man.

Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine, Belle, Alice, Aurora, Arial, Minnie....What a collection of beauties!!

I (and I am a man) LOVE Disney. My DW loves Disney as well. We went to Disney while we were engaged with frieds, we went to Disney for our honeymoon, went several more times before we had kids. Our first trip with our children were in 2001 and 2002. This year will be our first trip with our 2 year old DD. I can't wait to see her face when she gets to meet Mickey and Minnie for the first time.

I love it, must be something in the air there, because even walking miles in the parks in heat or cold, sometimes carrying my 2 YO when she demands it, never tires me out. Just seem to have more energy and I'm almost never stressed while there (exception: when kids start the "I gotta go bad"' when the restrooms are as far away as they could possibly be... but that's typical "need-no-mess" stress). Stress-free without boredom, feels great.

I just feel relaxed there pretty much the whole time from wake-up to sandman. Must be the general lack of fluorescent lighting and complete lack of automobile traffic. General lack of smog doesn't hurt either :)

This thread gave me a good laugh!

I really love WDW for our family trips. I know the kids will love it (all boys) and that the customer service will be second to none. I enjoy being treated like a guest all around the park instead of just another annoyance like at other hotels and attractions. The CM training is second to none. I like how clean the place is and the atmosphere.

True story: When we visited the last time (ASMovies) in 2003 our youngest ds was only 16 mos old. The other guests could not have been nicer in typically stressful situations (bus rides home to the resorts after a long day in the parks, lines at the food courts, etc.). Everywhere we went, the guests seemed to be in a good, happy mood even if tired. Men gave up their seats on buses to kids and women without even thinking about it (try that trick on a city bus or subway). Guests started to help us carry food to our table so we could get the other boys and baby situated. :earseek:

It just seems to me that once you get to WDW your attitude shifts and the magic really does appear in everyone. I can't think of a nicer place to go on vacation.

Oh, and did I mention that I love how I'm treated by the cast members?

It can be expensive to go there, but it is worth every penny. I love WDW. :cheer2:

My DH is truly a fan. He also loves Disney so much that when he goes to WDW in October for his convention he can't bear to stay in the same hotel we've stayed at.

DH loves everything WDW. Fortunately, so do I. And we don't even have kids yet. :)

I added two nights to my vacation an am now going 12 days/11 nights. If anything shows that guys like WDW this should.

Wow! How cool and you sound like a lucky person to have a family that loves Disney that much! Great story and I really enjoyed reading it. It put a smile on my face! :earsboy:

we'll me too - especially after our encounter with the r-rated ariel at the grotto in 2000. I'll be discreet. My 2 boys wanted to get Ariel's autograph and the line was short, so we got in line. OK, I will admit, I noticed that Arial was cute, but I'm not much of an eye wanderer - my wife is still the cutie to me. Anyway, when we got close, we (my wife had now joined us) noticed that Ariel's mer-suit was a little too low-cut in the front. Exposing more than anyone needed to see...

DH has become a Disney lover. As children I went the year the park opened as a child then not again till I was an adult, mid '80's. He had gone once as a child. Check out our signature line now! :rotfl2: He enjoys the resorts as much as the girls and I, but draws the line at staying anywhere lower than a deluxe resort. Says if we can't afford deluxe we'll just wait till we can. Luckily he is blessed with a great profession that allows him flexible hours so that we can afford to take a few days off and go every few months. I just start setting the cash aside so it's not a hardship. :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah, right, I have to rephrase that. I WILL SET ASIDE THE MONEY FOR THE TRIP! I WILL SET ASIDE THE MONEY FOR THE TRIP! (Will some kind person please remind me to set aside the money for this trip? )
