Just curious. Do many Europeans (including British) own DVC points? About what percentage?

The reason I'm asking is that the DVC units are essentially being offered to Europeans at about a 40 percent discount due to the fall in value of the dollar. If there is any number of European owners, I would think they would be buying add-ons like mad! And I would assume there would be an increase of first-time buyers.

As a european I have 325 points at BWV. I am from the uk and initially purchased 150 points. I have had two add- ons to give me the 325 total. I have not really bought when the pount is strong against the dollar, only when I wiahed to add-on. However it's been nice seeing my yearly dues fall in the past two years thanks to your weak dollar :Pinkbounc Lond may it last from my selfish point of view

I'm sure there is up-to-date information available somewhere, but the last time I remember seeing any details was in Vacation Magic of Spring 2002 when it gave the top 10 US states with members (NY, NJ, FL, PA etc) and that outside of the US, England had the most international members.

I've taken advantage of the weak dollar to add-on (and am currently awaiting another) but try to keep in my mind that what goes up (the UK pound) is going to come down at some time and those dues still have to be paid :D For now though, the exchange rate makes the USA an even more attractive holiday destination for Europeans.

We have 270 at BCV but we bought when the exchange rate was poor.
Our holiday in 2005 should work our quite cheap though.

DVC has always been very popular with folks from the UK. They were a large percentage of the initial owners. There is also a wide variety of owners from all around the globe.

Hi there,

Yes there many members in the UNITED KINGDOM!!!! Our friends bought in recently which brings 3 new members from Scotland.

The exchange rate is excellent just know, great.

Happy New Year

I wish the £/$ rate had been this good (from the UK perspective) when we bought our points! ;) We bought in 2001 when the rate was about as bad as it has been for some time for us - if only we'd had a crystal ball then ...

I'm not planning any add-ons on the basis of the current exchange as I don't want to be tied to more dues than we have at present.

Whatever the rate, we still love our DVC, and enjoy lower dues when the rate is in our favour. :)

We are in Ireland and are the process of getting our first DVC points. It doesn't really have anything to do with the exchange rate but more to do with saving money on our annual WDW vacation and staying in some great locations.
