Do laundry vs packing for 7days/nights

If I had to go to the laundry room to do it, I'd just pack for 7 days. We had a 1 bd villa on our last trip so I did do laundry throughout (11 nights) but it was right there so I could easily throw a load in while we were resting in the room or getting ready for bed.

I should clarify - we drive down and I have no problem packing enough clothing for two outfits a day (we go in August, sweaty hot!) but the 13 yr old twins we had with us didn't have enough clothing for the entire trip so I had to wash some of theirs for them. They were from out of the country so I didn't make them schlep down and do the laundry themselves. The pay station computer thing was complicated enough for me, never mind an ESL kid. And then the stupid computer thing broke anyways, sigh.

I guess I am the odd one out, but I don't do laundry while on vacation. I do laundry a lot while at home, and I refuse to do it while on my vacation. It's part of the vacation to Not do laundry, Not cook or clean, etc. But it sounds like I am almost the only one who does this? We take enough clothes for the 2 of us for our 10 day trip and I even have extra clothes if we need them, or we can buy a tshirt if needed. I have 2 large suitcases and a carryon which works for us. But to each his own, I just don't want to do laundry on vacation. It's just the 2 of us now, but I also did this when the kids were little and never had a problem.
I wish I didn’t feel the need to do laundry. I just hate re-wearing clothes and am picky about what I wear. If we go back for an afternoon break, I’m changing. I know I create more work for myself, but once I feel sweaty in a piece of clothing, it’s done. Same for the kids. And pajamas for everyone for a week take up enough space on their own! So I pack for half a week and just do laundry. I love clean clothes, lol! We also fly and I refuse to pay to check a suitcase for everyone.

I think this is an easier question if staying in a 1BR villa or larger at a DVC resort. You have a washer/dryer in the room even though they aren’t the best. We usually go over the holidays so the weather is more of a toss up so have to pack layers. We usually do laundry before we head back home

I do the laundry halfway thru the trip, and I do an extra load the night before we go home because there's nothing worse than walking into the house after vacation and facing a mountain of laundry. Its much nicer to sit at the pool bar for a couple hours and run over to the laundry room to toss it in the dryer and then be done with it before I get home.

We do laundry. I'm the one to carry the bags. We take two medium suitcases, (some people call them carryons ) Maybe a bit bigger than carryon, but I'd never be able to lift them overhead anyway. Even if there is curbside checkin, dragging/wheeling big bags is now a thing in the past. We spend enough in the room, there is no issue finding time to do it. However.......warning warning soap box ahead.......the people who start a load in the washer or dryer and come back three hours later....grrrrrrrrrrrr

Tomorrow we move to Beach Club and we are planning to do laundry while we swim in the quiet pool, next to the laundry.
They have the best set up for doing laundry!! Haven't stayed there in several years-our room overlooked the quiet pool too. Only bad thing is kids would routinely disappear and come back with their favorite food from Epcot-especially once I showed them the "secret" shortcut.
I always do laundry-even on our 7 day cruise I did laundry midway. Most places now have an app to pay and will alert you when your washer/dryer is done, also will tell you if any machines available before you haul stuff there. But we tend to go for a week-2weeks so packing that much even if driving is a pain-and everyone wants to re-wear their favorites anyway.
It's a nice way to "force" a break of a down day/pool day/relax and sleep in day too. Even better when we have a villa with in suite w/d!

oh heck yes to this :thumbsup2

If I have one in the room, yes. But I also hate doing laundry on vacation. We washed all our clothes once before coming home at shades of green and I just sat and cried. I did not want to be doing that on my last night of vacation. I work hard enough at home, I shouldn’t have to on vacation.

You are not alone. I only do laundry on vacation if we have machines in our unit or there's some kind of major mess that needs cleaning. Although, my sister has taught me to just throw away stuff. She has a child with autism who is non-verbal and not potty trained, so she frequently brings enough underwear and shorts for twice the length of her trip, then throws away anything that doesn't make it. (she buys most of their clothes at thrift stores).

My issue is that DH doesn't really do pool time, and our kids are too young to be unsupervised. So I could do laundry at the pool, but I would probably have to leave whatever toddler we have at the time with DH in the room, then go retrieve them after the laundry is started. Meanwhile dealing with the older kids asking about the pool every 5 minutes.

The Epcot snack thing is hilarious though! I wish Sommerfest still had Bavarian Cheesecake, because I would be sending ODS in to get his Mom a treat, while she was "slaving" over laundry in BCV during breaks in the spring.

I can't really picture a re-wearing plan for Disney for anyone but DH (and he has a health condition that means he doesn't sweat anyway). We're doing 4 nights at Universal then 5 nights at BCV. For Disney days, I always try to match our clothes to the park.... I guess we could re-wear at Universal, but we won't have easy W/D access there.
We are flying in the spring, but I'm hoping that the airlines will have their issues worked out so we can check a bag. If not, we did ok with 6 carry-on roller bags for our cruise, and we needed to pack a lot heavier stuff for Alaska than we will need for Disney.

This only works if you have a reservation to get into EPCOT for the day, or have gone to another park and it's after 2PM. Sadly, the spontaneity of this kind of magic is gone at WDW.

I will never check a bag into MCO. Good to hear there's a laundry room at that hotel. Dolphin and AoA also have them.

Is there an issue at MCO with checked bags? Do they get lost frequently? I am travelling with 3 small kids so I will definitely need to check my bags 😨

MCO is not exactly flush with employees, like the rest of Orlando. It took forever last time I did it. Never again.

We pack light and do laundry. I usually throw in a load a night and it's pretty quick.

I see what you are saying. I pack enough for at least 2 outfits a day with more just in case. We don't rewear dirty clothes, LOL. I like clean clothes too. I just pack Plenty and we have never run out. We can always buy a tshirt or whatever is needed. I do a mountain of laundry when I get home but that's what I like to do.
I didn't realize I was such a loner on this:)

If staying somewhere without a W/D in a unit (like a timeshare), we do our laundry on our pool day. I try to pack carry on only whenever possible, but somewhere like Disney I'd rather be in the parks. We pack more than usual but still need to use the W/D at least once.

We stay for 9/10 days and pack mostly enough for the entire trip (some days have two outfits) with the exception of bottoms and sports bras. With all of the sweating I can't take that funky smelling clothes for too long. I still do laundry mid trip while we relax at the pool during a midday break or on a sleep in day since I can't sleep past 7 am anyway. I'll run down while DD is sleeping. It literally takes 3 minutes to start it and 2 minutes to bring it back to the room. I bring a pop up hamper so it's super easy. I MAY do another load before we leave depending on our plans. Then at the end of the trip I use one suitcase for the rest of our dirty clothes and keep our clean clothes separate.

I either go with DD or DH so there's only two of us and not much laundry. Plus laundry doesn't bother me much since my kids are older and do their own laundry so I do minimal laundry for DH and myself. Plus is the folder for our laundry so I just wash it and sometimes move it to the dryer if DH doesn't do that part too.

If I were doing anything less than a 7 day trip I wouldn't do any laundry. When we vacation elsewhere for 5-6 days we don't do any laundry.

We drive our van to WDW, so we have a lot of room and we always "over" pack and almost always come home with some clothes that we did not even wear. Truthfully, we never want to spend any of our vacation time doing laundry but there were a couple of times we needed to and we planned accordingly.
