i am very intersted in buying into dvc. i am 24 years old and single so i will be paying for it all on my own. i went to a talk on dcl last year but couldn't come up with the downpayment but could have payed the monthly bills. i am going to wdw and dcl in november and want to be able to buy into it however i just dont know how much the deposit will be and the like. do you guys think its dumb to buy it while i am so young? and how much should i plan on saving (even though im going in november) to put down? also, how can i find hte best deal at the park or on dcl? will they be different incentives? thanks for any help!

If you love Disney buy as soon as you can, good luck. Hope I can welcome you home soon.

The incentives offered on DCL or at the park should be the same.

I don't think you are too young, as long as you can comfortably afford it. I mean if you can get the downpayment and afford the monthly payments and cover the Maintenance fees, plus have money to go on trips every year, I think you are good to go.

Just make sure you consider everything fully before jumping in.

I actually bought in when I was 27 (it was an early 28th birthday present). :goodvibes And I'll be honest, I didn't fully consider any unexpected things (like health issues, new car/car repairs, college expenses, etc).... We got hit with several of those this year and fortunately I'm a good budgeter so we got thru it okay, but I learned a valuable lesson... (it CAN happen to me!!!)

Hope it all works out! Enjoy the cruise!

Nothing wrong with buying young.

MHO is to just make sure you have all your affairs in order and realzie with DVC comes extra expenses such as dues, extra trips, extra $$ for park tickets etc.

Only you can decide what is in your best intrest.

Good Luck

At that age, SSR makes all the sense in the world. You will only be about 72 years old when the lease expires!

I'd say that buying makes sense if it isn't stretching you toofar. You certainly don't want to become "DVC poor" (as opposed to "brick poor") and hamper other things in your life. After all...at its heart, DVC is a luxury purchase.

On the other hand, a young man with a DVC contract in hand is quite a catch for a world full of Disney princesses! :thumbsup2

depending on what you are paying for your trip in NOV you could put that towards your deposit and then maybe book SSR for your stay with pts. just a thought :goodvibes

and no not dumb at all. question is will you kick yourself in the butt later for not doing it, only you can answer this. :thumbsup2

I do not think that credit worthyness matters anymore in determining the deposit. We just bought in and the down payment was 10%. Our deposit was 1510.00 for 150 points.

There is nothing wrong with buying young I was 25, Since I have a family of my own and we love to take the extended family I had to buy alot of points "well atleast i think 450 is alot". Buying fairly young you will have the chance to enjoy the longer contracts if all goes well, I will be 74 when my contract expires. Points will only get more expensive from here. If you can afford it now I would say go for it, I do have a feeling that the next WDW DVC resort will be something special, like having monorail, but from the way it sounds thats a few years off.

All I can say, from my own personal experience, is I WISH I BOUGHT IT SOONER.

I think many will agree.

I was talking with my new guide yesterday (Hassin, my old guide left DVC), and he speculated that an annoucement could be coming in a few months about another DVC property. Take this will a grain of salt as he might just have been leading me on becuase I mentioned I'm thinking of buying Marriott, but was not sure what to do as I didn't want to pass up potentially buying at a monorail resort.

please wait until you can afford it easily. Youre quite young and it makes no sense going into debt for it. Good Luck and DVC will be here for you when youre ready.
