Do IGT, OGT and VGT rates ever go lower?

These rates were just released for a cruise we are considering next month. Do the rates ever go lower after they are released? I know it is gambling. TIA!

I think I've only read of one time where *GT rates were offered, then disappeared (as they do when the number of bookings means they don't need to sell any more), and then reappeared (at, if I recall correctly) at a tiny bit lower cost.

Yes, it's a gamble. *GT rates can show up and disappear within hours sometimes.

A cruise would really have to not be selling for that to happen. They also have other discounts they use to dump the rooms when they're desperate...such as TA, Cast members and interline. I've never seen them go lower. If they lowered GT rates people wouldn't book they'd just wait. They will eventually pull the GT rate when they have sold the number of rooms they want to sell at that rate. If you're happy with the rate I'd book.

Typically, no.

I wouldn't count on it! If it's happened before it has been a very rare occurrence.

I think they have gone lower on occasion, but I wouldn't count on it. If the offer fits your budget, book it if you really want to go. If you are OK possibly not going on that cruise, you can certainly wait for something lower but just know that it may not come along and the original offer may be gone if you wait too long.

I was on a Wonder cruise several years ago that we literally paid $100 per night per person with IGT
But clearly even that low rate wasn't enough of an incentive as the ship was not nearly full...BUT many many folks on the cruise were CMs so I think DCL, rather than lower the *GT rates, simply offered discounts to select groups (CMs) to try to fill the ship
We couldn't even come close in the Trivia games but WOW was WonderQuest fun!!! Those CMs are high energy

The only time I remember seeing a price drop in a discount rate was on a Panama Canal cruise a few years ago. An OGT rate (or it may have been Florida or military) was released that wasn't really a great discount. About a week later, it was reduced. Other times, when the rates have gone lower, it was a decrease in port fees. If that type of drop happens, everyone gets the fees back.

We saw an IGT earlier this year that we were interested in but we couldn’t commit to the cruise quite then as we had some scheduling issues we had to work out. The rate disappeared before we were able to book it. We kept checking and lucked out because the rate reappeared. It was the exact same price it had been before.

As folks have said, it’s a gamble. If you’re okay not going on the cruise because the rate disappears, then gamble away!

Thank you all. We were looking to add on to our FL vacation with a cruise, but even with the GT rates, I cannot justify the cost of the double dip 4 night cruise. I will keep checking in case a miracle happens and the rates lower, but as of right now I cannot swallow $324 per person per night. I can basically go on a 7 night cruise at the beginning of Dec for the same cost. I was tempted because we were already in FL, but I don't think it is happening this time.
