Do I want to stay at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel?

I just looked it up online and I can get rooms from between $49-$69 a night. Is there something wrong with the hotel?

Thought the same thing you did. Just stayed there last week, 8/3 - 8/7 was good. Room was clean, AC and everything worked. Pool is nice, there is a small small hot tub by the pool. Its exactly 1 block from the entrance to Disneyland, its directly in front of the car entrance. Walking time is minimal, 3 or 4 minutes. Denny's is on the way for food. Staff was nice at the hotel, they held my baggage the last day after checkout so we could go to the park before our late flight. Also were helpful finding us a shuttle service back to LAX. The room actually had a nice little patio with chairs to sit and read on or whatever, that was unexpected. The rooms aren't large, but they were fine for me. The value was good basically.

Any other questions :)?

Oh, on the off chance you're canadian, I doubt it, but maybe, they take ressies through itravel.ca that use expedia's search engine. You can use petro points there and there is currently a discount on all hotels through it. We ended up paying 108 bucks for 4 nights. 100 off was using our petro points though so not too useful if you dont have some. Still got a cashback discount though too.

When I look at the map it looks like it is at least 10 minutes walking time, is that wrong??

Without exageration it is a single block exactly. You pass the hotel directly outside the entrance with the dennys, go by the next three and you're there. Those hotels are all CRAMMED together there and its not a distance at all. Its not ten minutes to the entrance area, but if you're measuring to the actual turnstyle and the front of disneyland or DCA its probably just under or around 10 minutes. I think our last day we left main street ten minutes before our scheduled shuttle arrival time and got back to the hotel in time. Everyone walks at different speeds i guess but i cant imagine it taking ten minutes to cover a block for most people.

I have stayed there at least 8 times. It is not more than a 5 minute walk. It is great because IHOP, Denny's and many other restaruants are within 5 minutes of walking plus of course Disneyland and Downtown Disney.

For us, it was about 10 minutes from the hotel to the turnstiles. Not bad at all...even at the end of the day when we were tired.

We've stayed there twice and we liked it. It's an older hotel but it's clean. The staff is really nice. The pool was good. We really like that the room had a fridge and microwave. We boat a huge case of bottled water and kept it in there so we could have water for the parks.

As mentioned before....Denny's and IHOP are close by too. It was nice to grab some breakfast before heading into the parks.

I've only see rates at $69 a night. Where did you find cheaper ones? We're going in January but I haven't booked yet.

I've stayed there twice. They actually gave us a deluxe room instead of the standard that we reserved. The price is great and the room is not bad at all. The pool is pretty good too. The walk time is not long. It would be almost rediculous to take a shuttle from the hotel to the park. I'd also say it's about a block.

The first time I stayed there, we went out to the patio and were able to watch some of the fireworks.

However, they do charge for parking. I think it's $4 a day. The staff is also nice.

My take? I say go for this hotel! It's a great deal for 69$ with closeness to the park.

I got 59 a night last week, booked off itravel.ca which is a canadian site, but its powered by expedia so the prices were straight off there. Could also try calling and asking for an AAA discount or that kinda thing, you can often get good rates by calling any hotel directly, particularly if you're close to the date and they have rooms.

I think $59/night is for 1 KING bed room.
$69/night is for 2 Queen bed room

In addition to what others have said, there are a few other "bonuses".

Kids eat free for breakfast in their hotel. They have a breakfast buffet. I haven't eaten there, but have heard good things.
The rooms were pretty good size. Had a table and chairs, micro and fridge. The rooms we stayed in had the mirror and sinks and counter outside the bathroom. That was great.
We were very comfortable in the regular room with five of us.
There's a nice gift shop there that has a few food items as well as gifts.
I liked crossing at the first corner. That way you walk down the Disneyland side for that one block and avoid the traffic associated with the chain of hotels.
I was impressed with not hearing what others were doing. The hotel is older, so the walls are a bit thicker.
The pool is huge. My kids loved it.

The cons?
It's older.
The rooms all exit outside. No inner hallways.
The beds aren't the most comfortable. Not bad, but not terribly comfortable.
The hot tub is small and can get packed.
Parking can be a big pain in the behind. And, there's a banquet hall on site. When they host an event the parking is even worse. I'd recommend not leaving during the evening if you can avoid it. Not as bad in the daytime.
Don't know if they changed this or not, but they had a time we had to have the car out of the parking lot on the day that we leave. Not the most convenient.

Overall I think it's a great deal and we've been there a few times before. I always try the Entertainment rate at HoJo's first, but will always check out Anaheim Plaza.

I will add this hotel to my list of possibles, I like the look of the pool, looks like you can have a proper swim. I know exactly where this hotel is and it is closer than either Hojos or Candy Cane but further away than BWPPI, Tropicanna, Carousel and Camelot. Anyone got any photos they might like to post?

We have stayed at that hotel 3 times in the last year and are going again next week. It is true that the hotel is older and I'm assuming different wings are older than others because there is definitely a noticeable difference in room quality from one wing to the next (or maybe it was just the rooms we had)

Overall, it's a great value and we spend very little time in the room so who cares. The walk from the room to the turnstiles is on average 10 minutes (give or take depending on walking speed and room location.. the property is relatively large).

The big plus to us is that they let you leave your vehicle there till midnight on the day you check out... so you don't have to move your vehicle to the DL parking garage like many other hotels will make you do after check out. It is $4 per day for parking but that's no big deal of course.

I'll upload and post tommorow.

For the restaurant, I didnt see it open when I was there, just a bunch of tables. It could still be running, but im not sure to be frank. There are lots within five minutes thougH :)

Thanks! I am Canadian, but I don't have petro points.

I got $49 a night for Thursday and $69 for Friday. This is for a single king bed room. I get to go by myself!
