I own at VWL with a March use year, if I wantd to do an add on at BWV, so that I could book at the 11 month window, what month would be the best use year, so that with the BWV points the VWL points would be at the 7 month window so they would be all available? does this make sense?

If you are adding on thru DVC you will have the same Use Year as your original contract. The Use Year doesn't affect when you can make reservations and having the same use year may help keep your recordkeeping and banking deadlines uncomplicated.

If you decide to add on by resale, you can choose a different Use Year, but USe Year has nothing to do with making reservations. It is only the date your points are renewed and the basis for banking deadlines. It can also be a factor if you cancel resevations on short notice.

Enjoy!

Oddly enough, when we called our guide to add on to our contract, she did offer us a choice of use years and resorts. (We have BWV with a September use year.)

So... turns out you CAN get a different use year. However, I agree that the best thing to do is get the same use year if you want to avoid major headaches with banking, borrowing, etc.!

You can only get a different use year from DVC if you are buying more than 150 points. If you buy less, then your add-on MUST be the same use year as your original contract.

Well, we bought an additional 100 and she offered us a different use year. Weird!
We ended up getting same UY, same resort.
