Hi everyone. We purchased 160 points yearly during our visit in August of 2009. We bought at the Villas at the Grand Californian. Our use year is June. I understand that I have until the end of January 2010 to bank my points, but not sure if they expire at the end of May 2010 or 2011? Ideally my family wanted to plan a trip for early December and use our banked 2009 points and our 2010 points (320 total). We would even borrow some from 2011 if needed. Do I need to use my banked 2009 points by the end of May of this year?

When you bank points they take on the UY expiration of the year you bank them into. In your case, your banked 2009 points now expire the same time as your normal 2010 UY points, so you have until May 31, 2011 to use them. So using them for a December trip is perfectly fine.

You're in your 2009 use year until the first of June. If you bank your 2009 points, then you can use them between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011.

this may be obvious but here goes:

you do need to call MS before the end of january to bank the pts (or maybe you can do it online). but they will not automatically bank pts for you, and if you don't bank your 2009 pts, they will expire on may 31, 2010. as stated, if you do bank them, you have until may 31, 2011 to use or rent them before they will expire (and these pts cannot be banked again.)

here is a link to a great thread for learning about how "use year" works.

Thanks for the help! Sorry for asking such a simple question, but after going round and round with my paperwork and on my DVC page it wasn't spelled out clearly (or maybe I missed it?:confused3) That's great news and I'm glad to be part of a great site!!! Thanks again!
