I need advice on whether to switch from a pkg to AP. I wanted everyone to be at AKL but my budget wouldn't allow it so I split the relatives (inlaws/ outlaws) between AKL & POR. Besides my double room at AKL, I booked 2 add'l rooms (a double & a triple) @ AKL and 3 rooms (2 doubles & a triple) at POR thru AAA. (I'm paying for the rooms.)

3 nights w/DDP & insurance @ POR (std view):
- double $931/rm
- triple $1189

3 nights w/DDP & insurance @ AKL (std view):
- double $1350
- triple $1445

price for either a double or triple AP room only rate at AKL is $554.
buying 1 AP per room is $477. Adding DDP is $39.99pp/day. Adding insurance - well, I'm not sure if we'd have to pay this all over again or if it would transfer from the pkg. to the room only rate intact.

We'll only be in the parks 3 days this trip and no one in our party "expects" to return again within 12 months to "reuse" their AP.

My budget is capped; I can't spring for any additional funds. If I add the DDP to the AP rate, the cost is more than the pkg. deal so, unless I'm missing something, the only way I can afford the upgrade in accommodations is to remove the meal plan.

The other factor is I'm concerned that getting to places from AKL will not be as convenient as getting to the same places from POR (parks, DTD, Pleasure Island) so perhaps they're better off staying at POR because they're gonna be doing the parks.

What would you do and why? Am I missing something? (I need to make a decision by March 5.) If you take the poll, I'd appreciate your thoughts because I'm overprocessing this issue at this point and have analysis paralysis that whatever I do won't be the right thing!

Find out if you can purchase the Disney Dining Experience with your annual pass. This allows for a party up to 10 to receive 20% off table service restaurants. Most, but not all, sit-down restaurants accept this card. We have never bought the dining plan, we have always purchased the card and it has always come out cheaper for us. Also, you will receive some discounts some places with your pass. Check and see if it is cheaper for you to get a pass for everyone if you are planning to return a year later. Sometimes the passes are cheaper than Magic your way tickets with all of the upgrades!!!!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!!!:cheer2:

thanks for the info about MME; I didn't know about the extra benefits of the AP!
