Do I stay or go?

Thanks everyone. I'll put on my happy face and wait to be splashed. I hope it's nice on Sunday or it will be a party full of unhappy bathing suit clad 5 year olds.

Have fun! I would go too since it's a pool party. A non-pool one I'd just drop & leave.

OH & Sunday it is going to be HOT!

Too many parents dump and run when it comes to parties. At this age and going forward children appreciate mommy being there. I think we miss out with bonding with other mom's beacuse we are less personal. A pool party is a must to attend, but I think when kids are young we as parent should go if we can. It makes great memories.

I have to agree with most of the posters... I would definitly go to the pool party. I think the other mom would appreciate the help of watching over the children. pluto:

For a pool party I'd definately stay( not that we have outside pool parties in the UK!)
OT but when I first started giving simple "tea" style parties for my children with party games etc I read a great tip on a web site that Ive tried to stick to since. That was to have NO parents stay, the theory being that children act up if the parents are there and it is very tricky as the host to deal with them with parents present.
It really works well, everyone is expected to join in fully with pass the parcel etc "you came ....so you join in " and no one sulks as there is no audience to sulk to. I found it made for a happier and relaxed party for everyone.:hippie:

without a doubt, i would stay. Pool parties make me nervous (and I am NOT a nervous mom).

5 year old and water? Yes, I would definitely stay with my child. I'm shocked that the party-giver didn't request this.

Agree with many of the PP that I would stay as a pool was involved. I have only left DD once or twice at parties. I end up staying and keeping an eye out and helping the Mom. I have been left alone with 15 girls DDs age way too many times.

Today is party day & DD woke up with a belly ache and throwing up. So she won't be going to the party after all. I called the mom and will try to set up a play date when DD is feeling better.
