I'm sure this is going to sound weird, but..............we are leaving in 33 hours and in a way I don't want it to come. Because then I know the "looking forward to it" is over. :sad2: And that also means our vacation is almost over before it even began! :rotfl2: I'm a goofball, I know. This is our first ever trip and I've had so much fun planning it and looking forward to it. All along it was "I can't wait until it gets here" and now I'm like "Oh, no, it's almost here!!!!". I'm sure I'll be in a full-fledged deep depression come next Saturday when we return home! :rotfl: And all of a sudden I feel very unorganized and not prepared (as I sit staring at my Passporter and 3 ring binder full of print-outs, touring plans, etc........). I've almost got myself talked out of even wanting to go. The pressure to "have a great time" is getting to me I think. :lmao: And the weather forecast is "unseasonably hot" (of course, just my luck) so I hope we fare the heat ok (my kids are not used to anything above 85 here in Ohio). Well, I'm off to read my passporter to get myself back in the mood (the "Disney mood" of course).... :lmao:

Just relax and enjoy yourself. Don't keep to your schedule, be open to changes if things don't go exactly according to plan. They never do. Just remember--your at Disney. Then when you get back you can start planning for that next trip someday. Just sit back and soak up the magic!

I know how you feel... I am the same way.

The absolute best feeling is walking to, and opening the door to our room at the beginning of the trip... whole trip lies ahead!
After that, there's less and less vacation left as the hours fly by.

But what SAVES us from the drepression of the trip "being OVER" is that we know we will be coming back... SOON!

The great part is - after it's over, you get to start planning your next trip :cool1:

That's what is getting me through the depression of our March trip being over; WE ARE GOING BACK IN OCTOBER! :stitch:

I had that same feeling before our trip last Nov. We'd been planning and waiting for 6 months, and I drove DH crazy with my "guess what I read on DIS boards today" :rotfl2: But once we got there I just enjoyed each and every moment and we had a great time and are now planning our next trip for this coming Nov. :woohoo:

The difference between all of you guys and me is that I most likely will NOT be returning anytime soon. We really are not a family that can afford $5,000 for a one week vacation and we decided to splurge this one time. I doubt this will be an annual occurrance unless DH gets an AMAZING raise (which we should find out TODAY), or of course if we win the lottery. So I guess I'll have to make it extra special and memorable. I'm jealous of all of you frequent Disney flyers. ::::::sticking tongue out at you::::::::::: :o

Well, if you talk yourself out of going, let me know!!! I'd be happy to take your place!!!!! Yesterday I had the same feeling though (almost). I thought, "wow, three weeks from today we'll be at WDW--BUT it will be Thursday and our vacation will be half over!" :sad1: But then I remembered that there's LOTS and LOTS of people who never go to WDW and I am lucky I get to do so! It made me feel better!!!

You guys are going to have a GREAT time!! Ignore the heat--get wet on Splash Mountain and you'll never notice it!!! Ok, I lied--you will. BUT you're at WDW!!!! So its "fun heat!"

Good luck to DH re: his raise!! That would be a nice addition to your trip--then maybe you COULD think about planning again!.

I know exactly how you feel. My DH gets so mad at me, because during our vacation I will say things like, "I can't believe we have to check out in 3 days!" Also, I plan for so long, I get kind of nervous that things will not turn out the way I want them to. I am afraid of rain, or unexpected crowds. Our last WDW trip was close to perfect and I am afraid subsequent trips will not live up to it. There is a lot of pressure! I just remind myself that a rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day anywhere else.

I admit it...I cry when we check out of the resort. i HATE when that little envelope is waiting for me at the door..."express checkout!" It mocks me...it says "here are your walking papers!"

I do reccommend you start planning another trip as soon as you get back, even if it is a few years away.

have fun!

I know exactly what you mean. ;)

The whole time I am counting down to our trip I am so excited ... "we only have 200 days left!" .... "we're down to double digits!" .... "one month from today!" .... and so on. However, when we get down to about 2 weeks left the excitement wanes. It happens every time. I think it's because I know the countdown excitement is coming to an end and soon we will be on our trip and that week will fly by and then it's over. :sad2:

Funny thing is DH doesn't start getting really excited about the trip until we're about 2 weeks out. So right when my excitement is losing steam he's just getting started!

I totally know what you mean!! As soon as we arrive at WDW, I start thinking "Man, only 6 more days till we have to go home." :guilty: I gotta stop doing that LOL!!

I hear you sister!!! :tigger: This is what happens to me every time we go to Disney. I just dread it because I constantly am thinking about the time we will have to check out and how many more days we have left. My only saving grace is to read the disboards each day and plan for another trip. I know you will have a great time. Im sending pixie dust your way!!! :tink: :tink: :tink:

I'm sure you and your family will have so much fun you will want to go back again. My family doesn't go every year. It's usually about every three years. I just love Disney so planning is always so much fun. When you get back you can share all of your stories here on the DIS. Pick a date for a couple of years to head back and Bingo....the planning starts again. Have fun.

Oh my goodness, i so know what you mean!!! In the back of my head I'm always thinking about how quickly time is whizzing by and it makes me sad! Not this trip though b/c I am there on my honeymoon with my best friend and even though we will eventually have to go home...I get to go home with him, so I'm happy enough with that! Thank Goodness for the DISboards though, I'll get my Disney fix until our next trip! (I'm already planning our trip for NEXT August with the soon2b DD7 and DS4...while I'm trying to plan my wedding...I am NUTS! I LOVE IT!! :rotfl: ) My DF keeps saying "Did you send the deposit to..." and I usually come back with "Do you know what i read on the Disboards today?!" His kids think I have two jobs, one where i go in the car, the other where I sit at the computer and "read important stuff" as DD7 puts it! (i try to stay off the boards when the kids are around but sometimes I sneak on when they are in other parts of the house and they ALWAYS seem to catch me!!! So DD7 always helps me pick out which smilies to put on!)

anyhow, I know what you mean about "end of vacation resistence syndrome" cuz I have it too!! princess: :wizard:

My DD7 started a countdown calendar about 80 days out. Now we leave in two weeks. I thought that I was so ahead of the game, but with my work schedule and other commitments, I feel like I won't have enough time. Anyway, I totally relate to the depression thing, i.e. while at WDW, thinking "wow, only 5 days left, 4 days, etc." We have to get out of that mindset! We've worked so hard all year at our jobs, for our families, and not to mention planning--let's all vow to enjoy ourselves and leave the negativity behind!

Amen.

 Anyone want to dance? :Pinkbounc

I know what you mean too. The last time I went was in 97' and am lucky enough to be going back in July with my DH and SDD(14) and both of then have never been.

Will I be able to go again? :confused3 That remains to be seen but I have learned over the years NEVER SAY NEVER!!! :sunny:

If this is going to be your only trip for many years to come then relax, enjoy and bask in the memories. :thumbsup2

Take lots of pictures and join in when and where ever you can. Don't hold back b/c we are all kids when we are at WDW. :cheer2:

WOW! I know exactly how you feel! We are leaving 5 weeks from today. The planning part is just so much fun, and I know I will be depressed when I return home also. I do ALL of the planning, dinner reservations, packing, etc. My husband is not usually too excited to travel, but he did watch the Disney special last night that I taped on Travel Channel this week. I think he is actually excited now that it is getting closer! One of the reasons I am so excited about our upcoming trip is that my kids are good ages to go, DS 9 and 5. I think they will really enjoy it. I know I need to make the most of it since they are only young once. We will never get their childhoods back, so lets enjoy all the Disney magic! I agree with some other posts, that some people never get the chance to experience Disney, so I should be thankful that we can do it every now and then. We have not been for 4 years, and we are staying longer this time(1 week versus 4 days last time). I plan to enjoy every minute, and don't think about coming back home until it really is time to do so! Have a fun trip!!! :sunny:

Laughing out loud :surfweb: this is so me, I just never thought of it in quite this way. This must be what its like to go to AA the first time and stand up and say "My name is Brenda and I am adddicted to ________" we could just fill in the blank with disboards.

You can truly count yourself in with the DISaholics! It is exactly the way so many of us feel!!! The only way around it is to start planning your next trip right away! Think of it as a new beginning, afterall you can't plan two trips at once.......(or can you?) :rotfl2:
