Do I really need a car?

O.k., here's one more-

I thought I decided to rent a car for our November(7-14) stay at POP.I got a rate of $150.Unfortunately, since I only carry liability insurance on my personal vehicle,I will need to add insurance into that rate (I'm told $10- $15 per day?).

It will cost about $180 to use a towncar service from Sanford airport. I really don't think we will be leaving Disney property.

So......

Should I get the rental and have it sit for a week, will I really need it once I'm there, or would the towncar just be a lot less hassle?

Am I making any sense?

I am staying at the POP fr a week too and I did not bother to get a car. WDW provides all the transportation we need and I could not justify spending all that money. I have no plans to go off site since this is going to be our first trip. There will be plenty to keep me busy in the parks.
Enjoy!

We rented a car on our first trip whilst staying at All Star Movies - it stayed on their car park all week except for a trip to Kissimmee Old Town and another trip to Belz (just to get some use out of it really) It would've been cheaper for us to have got taxis - we haven't had a car since.

I have always enjoyed having a car at WDW. Check with your insurance carrier and see what it would cost to add rental car coverage. It only cost me several dollars a month to be covered.

you may not need the insurance. many credit cards provide collision insurance on rentals. I would give yours a call. this is what we always did when we only had liability

Many credit cards cover car rental damages. NY insurance companies cover car rental damages under the property damage part of your policy, you're covered even if you don't have collision insurance on your car.

This is a vacation. Relax and let Disney do the driving. You will see more, relax more, and save more. That's part of what makes our trips special. We relax into it and let the transportation system be part of the vacation, not another task to conquer. It's all in how you look at it.

You absolutely do not need a car at WDW. Disney will provide relatively fast and efficient transport to most of the things you are going to want to do. A car can come in handy if you want to go grocery shopping, or go to the water parks, or even if you wanted to dine at, say, the Boardwalk or AKL. But for the most part, we have not needed a car when at WDW.

Then again, you're going to be paying $180 for a towncar from Sanford, plus tip on top of that. You might want to check with your credit card companies and see what kind of auto rental insurance is already covered. I use Amex when renting, since they cover almost everything already, and my homeowners' policy covers everything else. So in the end, would it be cheaper to have a car (even if it sits in the lot the whole time)? Perhaps. You do the math, and let us know.

I guess I forgot to mention I don't even have a credit card!

I think I've finally decided to take a towncar. It seems like the easiest way to go, even if it is a few extra $$. Like frstimer128,it's my first trip and I have no intentions of leaving Disney property!
Plus then I can rest on the way to the hotel instead of stressing over traffic and directions:hyper:

Thanks for all your input:wave2:
