Now obviously I know that the answer to that question is no! Just looking for some other opinions to help me make up my mind.

We have a quote for 3 nights during June half term to stay in a family room in DLH for £1400 or HNY for 2 rooms for £1158.

My problem is that my head is saying that as dream pass holders we can stay offsite for much less, by my heart would really love to take the girls to the pink palace. We have the money put aside to pay for this trip but with my husband being made redundant and starting his own business it may be the last trip we can afford for a while so I want to make it as special as I can.

Sorry to waffle just trying to make up my mind what to do. Opinions welcome:goodvibes

Well I suppose the decisions always come down to money, don't they :sad2:

I've done both, DLH family room and HNY 2 rooms.

HNY 2 rooms:
Love the space of having 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms
Being able to put the youngest to bed, and spend some time with the older kids in the other room without everyone having to be mega quiet.

DLH Family room:
Smaller space overall, but I guess your dd's are much younger than my crew, so you'll all fit in fine.
Unbeatable location
Beautiful surroundings

Your princesses will only be princesses for a very short time - if you can afford to go, then go and enjoy the pink palace. If it would cause you stress and worry over money then go for HNY - you'll still have a wonderful time and could take your dd's for a visit to the pink palace and and a wander around.

Hope this helps :goodvibes

Thanks for your help. I think we have discounted the New York because the saving is quite small. Just got to decide if the pink palace is worth the extra money over staying offsite.
I guess I just love the idea of the pink palace being so close so we could go and rest if the combination of early mornings for EMH and late nights for dreams are taking their toll. There is also the extra magic of not having to go through bag check every morning for EMH:goodvibes

What wonderful advice Ms Poppins! I'd say the same. If you can afford it, book the DLH as you might never have the chance to do it again. It would be nice to go while your little ones are well, little. If however your not really that fussed about where you sleep, go to HNY which i'm sure will be lovely anyway. I think it would so magical to stay at DLH. go for it!! :goodvibes

Oh yes!! ::yes::

I wouldn't pay the prices to stay there every time (not that I could afford to even if I wanted to :lmao: ) but IMO I think everybody should splash out and stay there the once.

Go on, book it, you know you want to. ;)

How old are your children? - Just remembered you have their ages on your sig! I think the 8 & 6 yr old will love it at the DLH!

I ask because our first two trips we stayed at the DLH and it was wonderful, but quite frankly, I don't think the girls really noticed (but were quite young, second trip DD1 was 4.5 yrs and DD2 15 months ish). BUT, it was amazing for character interaction each morning at breakfast (but I have nothing to compare it to as I haven't stayed at another Disney hotel yet). I also found we seemed to see slightly more unusual characters like the Genie whereas don't think he's been to any of the other hotels?

Breakfast etc was fabulous too although the young children aren't that bothered about hot items most of the time - they want croissants/cereal etc :rolleyes1.

I do agree though, I think you have to try it out once and if you think this is your time then I would go for it :thumbsup2. Especially if you want to make it extra magical in case you don't get back for a while.

As for us... we are staying for the first time at the HNY and I'm really looking forward to it. If we hadn't been going back in November I would have been tempted to do the DLH again. We *might* try for our November trip though as it will be colder and so walking etc could be an issue if we have a winter like 2010 again! In June, I plan on going to the DLH to browse the shop and will book Inventions for a meal (we might even drop into the Fantasia bar for one drink on our way back to the HNY if it's not too late for the girls one night!) :wizard:

Having said all of that, I don't think the girls will care where we stay - it's still Disney to them :):goodvibes

Thanks guys - I know I really do want to book it, but I think I just needed someone else to suggest I wasn't completely mad to spend that much on a few nights away!

DLPDreams - signature needs updating slightly, oldest DD is now 9 and my youngest turned 4 today :sad1:

If you can afford it without having sleepless nights then I say do it! I can only imagine how amazing it would be to stay in DLH. Imagine pointing at the hotel and saying to your kids "that's where we're staying!".

Only you can whether it's worth it for you, but I think staying at DLH is a holiday in itself without even going into the parks, and everyone should do it once. I fully intend to stay there one day when I can afford it :goodvibes
