We are staying at a one bedroom at SSR. This will be our first DVC stay. Will we need to pack laundry soap and dish soap or is that already in the room?

1 or 2 boxes of laundry soap will be in the room. If you need more you will need to buy it or bring it. Dish soap, liquid and dishwasher, are both provided.

There is usually 1 one-load box of Tide in the room. You need to bring a small bottle of liquid.

I have always seen 1 box of Tide in the villas I've stayed in. I usually bring a couple of "one-load" size travel packages (found them at Wal-mart) since it's more expensive to buy at the resort store. There is plenty of dish soap provided.

Even the Tide at the resort store is about $2 and it will do several loads. I don't take any with me because I don't want laundry soap smelling luggage for the rest of my life. :rotfl:

We drive so that influences our habits. We always bring a small bottle of liquid laundry detergent since there is only one single load box of tide in the room. We do a lot of washing since we only pack for about half our trip and wear everything again after washing. It cuts down on luggage. Even though there is dish detergent, we bring a few extra tabs of dishwasher detergent just in case. There is plenty of liquid for the sink if needed. We also bring extra coffee since you might have one or two packs in the room.

We wash towels when needed and typically skip Mousekeeping on day 4. No biggy to throw them in the washer before we head out for the day, and stick them in the dryer when we return. I don't have a problem dropping off the trash on the way out, and one week on the same sheets sure isn't a big deal so what is left for Mousekeeping to do anyway?

Oh, and don't forget dryer sheets.

We do a lot of washing, but we bring too many clothes. For our next trip my hope is that we will each bring two changes of clothes plus the ones on our backs. Of course, weather can complicate things.

This is what was in our 1 BR at SSR in January. We are allergic to Tide, so we purchased a couple of boxes of Cheer in the laundry room for $1 each.

One box of Tide was in our 1 bedroom at SSR on arrival day, along with Dishwasher powder, and dish soap for hand washing dishes.

On Towel & Trash Day, we got refills of all of these-even though the dish soap wasn't gone.

If you do a lot of washing, I would recommend either getting some travel sizes, or purchasing a small bottle as well.

For our last trip, we packed a package of laundry dropps that I found at Walmart. They worked great and didn't weigh a lot or take a lot of space.

we also tend to pack 3 days of clothes for a week long stay, and wash 1-2 loads a day, as I can not bring myself to reuse towels :rotfl:

I'm glad you asked this question. I was wondering the same thing about the laundry soap. I was at Target the other day and noticed some travel size laundry products in the travel toiletries section. Maybe they've always had it, I just never noticed before.

someone once mentioned a tip..they put each loads scoop of detergent in a ziploc bag, and bring however many days worth they need. I tried that advice and love it. just open bag, and pour wash clothes while gone and dry when we get back.
we only bring half the days clothes..so an 8 day stay means 4 days clothes

they have plenty of dish soap

That is one of the things Owner's Locker has done for us. We have laundry soap in our OL, along with all of the toiletries and shower items we need. Just pack four days worth of clothes for any length visit and GO!

I agree!!:worship: Packing now to leave Saturday and every day I tell DH how great it is not to be running around for travel sizes of everything we need.
But-we USED to take one or two travel size laundry soap and a couple of dryer sheets. Never ran out of dish soap.

All the soap is already there. You should be fine unless you are doing an excessive amount of laundry.

I bring detergent with me and dryer sheets. During a week's stay I wash every two days and besides I utterly dislike putting sweaty dirty clothes back in my suitcase! Also, DS(12) can't eat anything without buttering himself up, it's been a problem since birth and doesn't seem to be improving!
