::MickeyMo Only 4 more weeks so I'm starting to think aboubt packing. Does DCL have irons in the rooms or can you ask for one? I could bring one on but I don't want to (they are a pain) if I don't have to.Any other packing tips???::MinnieMo
May 1st Magic here we come!

There is an iron in the laundry rooms on each deck. There was a thread here last week that indicated that they won't allow irons in rooms for safety reasons. Which bummed me out, because I had just bought one!

Yes, I believe that is true of all ships---no irons in cabins since risk of fire is so high. But they do have them, as mentioned already, in the laundry rooms! They must feel that these will be "noticed" if left on better than if in a persons room.

I thought about bringing a little travel steamer, but most of what I'm packing is travel-safe ::yes:: won't wrinkle badly. whatever does get wrinkled I'm planning on sending out to have pressed the first night. That way I'm not wasting any of my vacation time sweating in a laundry room with a crappy iron that may ruin my clothes...and I'm not trying to find a place in the cabin to iron something.

I almost forgot that you can have your clothes pressed without getting them cleaned. Is the cost one-half of the cleaning cost? (I think I remember that). What about tipping??

Yes...pressing is half the cost of dry cleaning. :) Good question about tipping. I don't know the answer to that one!

I had our clothes pressed...half the cost of cleaning on the ship and it worked out great! I just put the clothes in the bag provided and they "magically" appeared pressed in our room the next day. I think i had about 8 shirts and a suit pressed. It was less than $20.00. i did not tip, because I never saw anyone to tip! Later in the week i had 2 pants cleaned my kids were out of dress pants because of spills...anyway the same thing. One day they were hanging dirty on our door the next day the were cleaned and pressed hanging in our room! Also not expensive, about $7.00 i think.

Thanks....we've cruised DCL twice, and I didn't know I could have the clothes "pressed for less". Great tip!!!!

I refuse to do laundry on vacation, and hate to iron...so I pack the boys' shirts in those fold-up shirt packer thingies. Butthis next trip is the first that we'll have "formal" night......

Usually, we just go around wrinkled like the other half of the cruisers do. :p

Thanks again for teaching an old dog a new trick!!

I love these boards!

NYDisneyMom, you said it!

The laundry room is like a sauna, and the iron is either too hot or cool, (not like my own at home.)

I'm sending our clothes to be pressed. (For formal night.)

With regards to tipping, I believe that it is your cabin steward who picks up and drops off dry cleaning and pressing items. So you would include any tip in your tip for your cabin steward.

We just placed the items in the bags provided in the room, filled out the provided slip.

They picked it up when we were out of the room and it magically appeared the next day when it was finished.
