Do I need to bank?

I have a dec use year. For my reservation starting the end of November 2010(at which time my 2009 points will expire) and going into December I will need to use points from 2009, 2010 and some from 2011. My question is do I have to bank some of my 2009 points before I make the reservation or will MS do this automatically? Does my question make sense?

november 2010 dates are in your 2009 use year. if you are staying through the beginning of dec 2010, then yes, you would need to use 2010 use year pts or else banked 2009 use year pts for those december 2010 dates.

MS will never bank pts automatically but you can bank and book during the same call - always let them know specifically what you want to do and which use year's pts you want to use.

Just remember that banking the points can take a few minutes. If you are calling for a difficulty reservation, you may want to complete the banking before that day.

There was a thread on here awhile back by someone who didn't realize that they had to do it first. By the time the points were banked, the availability for the room was gone.

Not to high jack the op but I'm having a brain cramp here. We also have a Dec use year and are planing a family get together next Nov. Currently we only have 20 2009 points left and will need to borrow from 2011, can we do this for a Nov 2010 trip?

I think you need to borrow from 2010 pts. Dec 09 pts. can be used from Dec. 1st 2009 to Nov. 30 2010. Dec 10 pts. can be used from Dec. 2010 to Nov 30 2011 or borrowed to be used for Dec 2009 to Nov 30 2010.
