Do I need the Cricut tool kit?

DH got me a Cricut for Christmas, and DGM wants an idea for me still. Is the Cricut tool kit something I need or will use? I looked at it, but since I haven't opened the Cricut yet, I didn't know what any of it was or would be used for.

It kind of depends on what you already have. I bought it but returned it before I opened it because I realized I didn't need it. You definitely need a tool to help lift the pieces off the mat. I use a Creative Memories tool and it works great.

The cricut tool kit is really nice for lifting the pieces off the mat. If your DGM still needs other ideas, extra mats and extra blades fill a stocking nicely! I've also heard the Cricut pens are nice, although personally, I've not used them, because I don't have any yet.

I like the sharp hook tool in the tool kit for punching out little bits of paper that are not quite cut all the way through. I think the most important tool, though, is the spatula, which is sold separately from the tool kit. I use it to lift pieces off the mat.

I just recently went out and bought mine. I was tired of getting little paper cuts under my fingernails from lifting little things off the mat. I may not necessarily use anything besides the spatula and the piercer, but at 40% off, it was a good investment.
