Do I need something besides a birth cert if my name isn't listed as mother?

We're adopting our baby, and the original birth certificate has the birth parents' names on it. Will this be ok, or do I need something else proving we have custody?

The same question would apply if you were travelling with a friend's child. Do you need some kind of extra documentation showing you're supposed to have that child with you?

I don't know about the adoption question. I assume you would need something to prove custody, but not sure. I'd call DCL or your travel agent and ask them.

I do know that there is a form in your cruise documents to fill out if you're traveling with a minor child that is not yours because my nephew is going on a cruise with me in Janaury and I asked this same question.

You might want to check with your adoption attorney. It seems that you might need documentation similar to what you need to get a passport. Otherwise, don't you have to get parental consent? I don't know what level of contact you have, if any, with the birth parents, but it seems likely that consent might be difficult to get.

This is from another cruise line but I'm sure it applies to DCL as well. The BEST advise is to call your TA or DCL and ASK what THEY require! Enjoy!

Adoptive parents, legal guardians or persons separated or divorced are advised to keep legal and other relevant documents available in order to clarify custody rights.

My sister was adopted and we were able to get her a new usa birth certificate since she was from bulgaria. Are you unable to get her a new birth certificate with your names?

Has your adoption been finalized? If it has you will recieve a new birth certificate with your names listed as the parents. If it's not final before your trip you would have to get something from your lawyer stating that you have custody of your child and are in the process of adopting. We have adopted seven and it's wonderful!
