I am going to Disney in January and will be at MGM on Thursday January 20th - do you think I need to make priority seating reservation to secure tickets to Fantasmic? I don't want to wait for an hour since I will have four little ones with me - but am not a huge fan of any of the sit down restaurants at MGM.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I will be in at disney on those same dates as well and have been considering the same option as to not have a long wait to get into the theater.

I have been in January, did not have the package, walked in to the show about 45 minutes before and got a great seat. Maybe I was lucky, but I think if you are willing to sit there for about 45 minutes you will be fine.
The Fantasmic package tells you that you still have to go about 45 minutes before the show and your seating will be off to the side. I think you are probably better off without the package, especially since the package would be so expensive for you and you would have to wait anyway.
Thre is a kiosk in the Fantasmic theater that sells snacks, pretzels, so you could just have your dinner while you wait.
Much pixie dust,

You probably don't need the package, but we were there last week and did the H&V one and I just had to recommend it. We have 4 kids, one is picky, one a big eater, one vegetarian, I love seafood, DH loves meat and taters, and we all left full and happy! It is the least expensive too. I get tired of eating junk on vacation. The salads and veggies there were great, and they had mac and cheese, ect., for the kids!

We have NEVER needed the package for Fantasmic in January. We have even gotten there with about 30 minutes to go, and there was still room. We always get ice cream and take it up with us. That keeps the kids busy for a little bit anyway. If MGM is really dead that day, Id ask the CM at the bottom of the path to Fantasmic how the seating looks.. They are always great with a "there are lots of seats still" or a "Id get up there now if I were you".

Laceemouse- Im thrilled to hear your H&V review!! We have that booked for our Thanksgiving dinner and did the package ( it wasnt any more money to do the package!!) I wanted a buffet with 3 kids, and the fact that the package wasnt any extra did it for me. At least I know we will have seats for the show without waiting 2 hours on Thanksgiving~!!!

Thanks for all the great advice. I think I am going to wing it then and not make a reservation - how crazy of me not having every tiny detail planned.
