Do I need a Grand Calibur?

I have a Cuttlebug, which I have loved, but it is so limiting in the size you can cut/emboss. I am looking at the Grand Calibur, but that seems to be best for really large things, like to put on a 12 x 12 scrapbook page, which I do not do. I mostly do cards and mini books and misc paper crafts. Keeping in mind the projects I normally make, am I wasting my money in purchasing a Grand Calibur? I might also add that I am new to using the nestabillities, only have two sets, and I can't even tell you which ones I own.

That brings up another question, which sets of nestabillities do you find you use most often?

Thanks for any feedback.

hmmm I'm no help since I only have the cuttlebug & most of the time I forget about it - love it when I use it
never heard of the Gand Calbur
I have read about nestabillities but figure my circut could cut out those shapes - I am thinking of getting a new cutting machine - just waiting on money & reviews of the new ones out

Ok - maybe my first "anti-enabler" post. (And poo to those who said I'd never have one of these!)

I have a Grand Calibur. I love my Grand Calibur. (Bought it with a 60% ACM coupon last spring, so got it for $55!) But, I got it especially to cut large things for 12 x 12 pages. Large die cuts, large photos (got tired of using 4x6 prints and wanted round and oval large photos - and mats - from 8x 10s, etc.). If you are making smaller cuts, the Cuttlebug works great with the regular size Nesties. The big Grand dies cost a fortune (even with 50-60% ACM coupons, they then are $20-25) - but I've been building up my stash and even caught a few at my LSS on clearance the other day for $3! But, I truly love the size I get with these critters. But it doesn't sound like you typically do big stuff. (But, you can also do multiple smaller cuts on the same plate with the GC - saves time and paper.) If you DO decide to get a GC, a die set you might like is "Creative Book Pages" - I use ones from this set a lot.

Good luck with your research!

Your points are well taken. While I do not do big stuff, I often find the Cuttlebug size to be very limiting. Since I do want to go up in the size I can cut/emboss, is there another machine that might work better for me? I did see that those Grand Nesties are very expensive.

Creative Book Pages--I will definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip.

Big shot is bigger but not huge enough for 12 x 12 pages. I don't have one, so no enabler here. I have a Revolution and it's too small for an a-2 size embossing folder. But am I willing to invest in and find storage space for something bigger? Um. Not so far!

I'm just getting a Big Shot (shhhh! Don't tell DH! really its my Xmas present from my mum but she doesn't know yet either:rotfl2:) and I can't wait! please don't confuse me:eek:

I'm getting X-cut nestable dies as they're only £10 (about £$14) a set, cheaper than nestabilities.:goodvibes

I just saw a project done with the Tim Hotz On The Edge Doiley die and fell in love with it. Does anyone know if these will work in the Cuttlebug and/or the Grand Calibur? I don't have any of the On the Edge dies, and don't recall seeing them in the stores, so I am not sure just how big they are.
