After reading another thread, I am concerned about whether Mickey's BBQ is right for my family. My kids are a bit whiney about getting "sweating hot" (this also includes my DH!!). Also whenever we're in the movies and it gets too loud DS 6, puts his fingers in his ears (it's pretty funny actually, but I don't know how he'll eat it both hands are occupied).

I hear it is hot, crowded, loud, and disorganized...but others say it's GREAT.

I'm confused...normally I like to try things and form my own opinions, but not for $127.00.

Any feedback would be appreciated...

We have this booked for July 31st. I like you are wondering about the likes and dislikes after reading other threads. I even posted a thread last week and not many people responded. Why? I thought this was one of the bigger character dining events. Please disers, please help us out. It is expensive for families. We all try to do the right thing for our families when we plan these trips. No one wants to waste money and not enjoy this. We keep saying we will give it a few more days and see peoples responses. Please help us all.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

We were there in the Spring of 2002 and did not have a good time. It was quite crowded - the dancing area was too crowded for my DD (7) and DS (6) to have enough room to dance. They did not get to visit the characters as the lines were too long and the visiting time too short. I would not go back.

We have never done the BBQ, but if you decide not to go, check out the new show at the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon at MK. It has Goofy, Chip and dale, Woody, jesse, and Bullseye and they dance with the audience.

Erikarate-

I know exactly how you feel; when I added up how much this evening would cost for my family of five, I just couldn't do it. The last two straws that broke this camel's back were hearing the Trail's End has the same food as the HDDDR, and the addition of the Goofy show with the Toy Story characters. I cancelled my PS for the 24th. We'll eat cheaper and dance for free in air conditioning.

Good luck with the decision-making.

How does the Goofy show work? Is there food? Do you do a PS or is it just a show you walk up to and wait in line for like the other attractions. Maybe this would be best for us too, since DD -2 loves Goofy!

TIA for letting us know how the Goofy show works.

What a great idea! What's the food like there?

hmmmmm cant find the email where I read this but I believe it said that food is no longer offered at Diamond Horseshoe.

Can anyone tell me where the Trail's End is???? We LOVED the fried chicken at the HDDR and if I can get it without going to show, that would be GREAT!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

I just checked out some info about the new Goofy show here on the DIS. It says the show is about 18 min. long and involves line dancing on the main floor. There are no food/beverages served. It also mentions that those not participating can take pictures from the second floor balcony.

I doubt they'd do PS for this, but maybe fast pass (if they haven't already) if it proves to be really popular.

Thanks everyone!

I think I'm going to cancel. I normally give things a shot, but this sounds like something my family wouldn't enjoy. There are too many other adventures to explore...

See y'all in 2 weeks!!!! I leave in just a few hours...

We are canceling also, based on most peoples responses and the lack of responses. Maybe another year.

Well, since this is something we have never done in 12 trips so far, we're gonna do it.

We finally went in May. We being me, DH, DD-4, DS-3, MIL, FIL. To describe it in one word---HOT.

There was great character interaction before the start, however, once inside, the lights and heat from the band made it increasingly hot. It was also very loud.

There was also no stopping the kids (I should say parents too) with no manners from hogging up the characters on the dance floor. The characters had no handlers.

Food was good, band was very good, but after a long, hot day in the parks, we had had it.

We also got quite bitten waiting for the boat to take us back to WL.

Perhaps, it would be a different experience in cooler weather. However, we will not participate in this event again--once was more than enough.
