Do I have enough time to get from Sci Fi to Fantasmic?

I have a 5:20pm ADR for Sci Fi the week of January 21. Fantasmic is scheduled for 7:00pm. The fireworks schedule isn't out yet for my week, but it is listed at 6:30pm for Jan 3, so there is a good chance it will be the same time for my trip. There are 3 adults and 2 kids (3&4). We only planned on dining for an hour at Sci Fi and figured it would give us about 30 minutes to get to Fantasmic which at the time seemed reasonable (we don't have fastpasses and don't care where we sit). But now I realized that we will have to go right through the firework show to get to Fantasmic. Is this doable and will we be cutting it close to get to Fantasmic? Thanks

Risky, in my book. IF you get seated on time, and IF you order, get served, eat, and pay in an hour, and IF you can navigate through the crowds with two little ones, it'll work. Crowds likely won't be too bad that day so there's a good chance of available last minute seating but that presumes you make there.

Too close, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that scifi at that time has a delay to get seated and then people will be in line before 6:30 and seated by 7 so it's not really 30 minutes you have to get there. It's more like 30 minutes if lucky and hope there is a seat.. You'll also be going around and through the very crowded center of people watching the fireworks since they usually happen at the same time.

I agree, you're assuming seated on time and served promptly. You can't ask for the bill up front, either, because it's a menu, not a buffet.

Way too close, especially with little kids.

To quote my least favorite WDW headliner attraction, "you're not gonna make it! you're not gonna make it!" You should be planning on queing up around 6-6:15 to get any seat at Fantasmic. I would't plan on having a reservation past 4:30 at the absolute latest if you want to be assured of making it to Fantasmic. I'd honestly give you a 25% shot at making it with your reservation. Sorry

I don't think you should have a problem changing to an earlier reservation time. Keep checking up until your trip and you'll be fine. Have a great trip!

Get to a restroom before you eat. You may not have time after you eat.

Get to the dinner reservation early; it may help you to get seated sooner.

Look at the menu ahead of time and have all your meal choices pre planned before you enter the restaurant. All Ears is a good source of menus.

Don't get sucked into the sci-fI movies being shown. Eat quickly and get out.

Don't just order drinks and let the waitress walk away. Get the waitress to take your full order all at once including drinks and food. When the food is brought to you ask for the bill right then and there.

Your best bet is to snag an earlier time. Look at least 6 times a day and you may get lucky.

Last year Fantasmic was at 7 pm for the end of January. You may get lucky with the schedule and see what happens.
