Do I have a BROKEN Mix Stick?

I picked up one of these when they were on sale last week for DS & am testing it out with the stand. The problem I have found is that the VOLUME resets to a low level every time I shut it off.

The volume being lowered is not a problem but the Mix Stick Stand insists on the volume being UP or it will not play at all and it is frustrating making it look like the stand is broken. It took me Hours of charging, plugging, unplugging etc just to figure out where the problem was.

So anyone with a Mix Stick,
Does your's do this? I'm just wondering this one is truly defective and needs to take a trip back to the Disney warehouse.

I had the exact same problem with my DDs. (Princess- light pink) I took it back- and got a new one- it works fine. I knew that it wasn't right because my son has one (Pirates) and it does not do that- his works very well.

Now to play the return game... sigh.
