Do hotels change the bedsheets??

It seemed like they were putting a crap load of spray really closely on the areas. It makes me wonder if some seeped through to the mattress protector/base sheet and left the residue that would reappear under the black light?

If the spray is anything like, for example Febreeze, holding the can that close for that long with that much spray is going to completely drench a soft surface and soak through to underlying areas.

When I check into a hotel I check for the nasty bed bugs and at the same time I look for the fold creases on the sheet, because in my brain I feel they are fresh and no one else has slept on them. If there are no creases, I will "accidentally" put a little make up on the sheets and call for fresh ones.
Why the make-up? Well I don't want to piss off anyone who is coming into the room to clean when I'm not there.........

Do you say you've spilled make up on the bed and would like it changed or do pretend the make up was there when you turned down the bed? If it's the latter you could be potentially getting the maid in trouble. Just ask for fresh sheets, you don't need a reason other than you want them. Also, if your bed was made on a very high volume checkout day and the laundry is in house the sheets may not have had time to develop creases because they didn't remain folded for long before being put on a bed.

FWIW when I was a maid I cleaned the rooms on my station like they were my own home. Most maids I knew did the same. We were required to change sheets, scrub showers/toilets, dust and vacuum DAILY. Every room. Every day. We had inspectors that checked daily as well. I can still strip and make a bed in under 60 seconds.

I'll give you that I'm a bit of a hotel snob, but this has been my experience as well. I've often come back to the room mid-cleaning and seeing beds being stripped and changed daily

Eh. What I don't know won't hurt me.

This. I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels, I do a bed bug check, and that's it. I am not carting around cleaning products or new sheets with me every time I travel, and I clean enough at home, I am certainly not going to do it in a hotel.

Pretty much this. I travel a ton. The things I do include checking the toilet, the shower, and the sheets, in order to make sure there are no nasty stains. I do a bed bug check of course. But beyond that, not much. I'm on vacation and if I thought about all the nasty possibilities, I'd be so busy cleaning I'd never leave the hotel room.

Same, I do a cursory inspection.

As long as there are no large blood splatters on the walls, I'm good.

Why do sheets need to be changed daily if the guest is there for a longer stay? I don't do that at home and don't expect it in a hotel. If I'm there for a week, maybe change the sheets on the 4th day, but even the same sheets for the whole week is fine.

Yea I actually leave the privacy sign on my door the entire length of my stay, lol. Don't want people coming and going with my belongings there.

As a curtosey to the person getting the room after me, I always eat a few tacos in the bed before I go, they have no choice but to change the sheets then

lol thought I was the only genius pulling this type stuff!
I toss the sheets on bathroom floor!

I always wonder this? I change my sheets at home usually once every two weeks or so. There's no reason to have someone changing my sheets daily. I always stick the privacy sign on the door.

I wonder if maids do like that or not though. Less to do but also less tips. I always feel like a jerk when I come out of my room with that sign on the door and they make eye contact with me.

It was just policy in the hotel I worked. When we stay in a hotel if it's less than four nights I just leave the DND sign on and just catch the maid to empty trash/exchange towels. When we check out I strip the beds, make a neat pile of all the linens and gather up all the trash cans. I know from experience that will save her a good 5-10 mins which doesn't seem like a lot but when you're doing 20 rooms a day it's a huge help.

I tip when I exchange towels and leave a nice tip at the end. eta: Maids are usually sent elsewhere to make up the room. I didn't mind if was on my floor but hated it if I had to haul my cart to another floor. It is what it is though.

I travel with a blacklight.... quickly identifies where the cleaner missed (light switches, bathroom, spilled drinks).

I either avoid the area for an overnight stay or leave a note with an arrow and what they need to spot clean the next morning.

I've noticed a lot of hotels don't even have a bedspread anymore. I see why, too hard to clean.
I always pull down as much as I can but leave enough so I don't freeze (AC).
Clorox wipes are a MUST. If I couldn't wipe the room down myself, I'd fell gross just being in the room.
I'm not a germ-a -phob either. I just want to avoid a "bug" left behind.

I noticed this too. Many have a blanket in between two sheets. I hope they wash both sheets between guests.

My guess is it would be harder to leave that top sheet vs just switching it out. All the sheets are flat and if done right, hospital corners so you have to strip the bed before you can make it. The easiest way to remake is to layer bottom, top, blanket, sheet from the side, make your corner, fold down the top, tuck, hop over to the other side, repeat. Trying to leave the outermost sheet in place would break that rhythm and take too long to get right IMO.

There was that hidden video of a mousekeeper at the Contemporary - she blew her nose in the washrag, then wiped the glass and mirror with it. That's just nastiness on purpose.
