the date stamped on the carton, or is that just the last day they can sell them? Mine say Jan 24th but I REALLY want to fix us some omeletes for breakfast. I have heard both things before.

I think its the last day they can sell them. They are fine unless they lookor smell funny when you crack them open.

Fill a big bowl with water and put the eggs in it. If they float, they're bad. If they sink, they're still good. When eggs start to go bad, the fluid dries out. As long as they're still heavy enough to sink, they're not bad.

Thanks guys! I knew you could reassure me:D ! Off to test, then hopefully cook some eggs:cool: !

Its the last date the grocery store can sell them. A coworker owns a farm and once told me that the date stamped on the eggs in the grocery store is 6 MONTHS from they day they were laid!

If there's a date stamped on any food products, and it's past that date, I throw it away.
