Do DVC'ers rent cars or use Disney transportation?

I typically don't rent a car when I go to Disney. I like Disney's transportation. As a DVC member, do you also use the transportation or always rent a car?

Come to think of it, lol, how is the bus transportation from BCV, etc.? (I'm presuming it's available...never asked that before!)

Even when we drive, we usually rely on Disney transportation. The only exception would be if we are heading to Downtown Disney or a water park, since they seem to make many stops along the way to those places. In that case, it's easier to use our own transportation if we have it. When we fly, we never bother to rent a car. We take a towncar to the resort and use Disney transportation for the rest of the trip.

We always get a rental car. With 3 kids, the 2 younger ones always ffall asleep on the way home from the parks!! It is easier just to park in front at OKW and carry them up the stairs then carry them on the bus etc.....

We never rent a car in Disney while we stay at the resorts. If we head down to Vero after, we will rent a car on the day we leave.

As for bus transportation at BCV, it is good. You catch the busses out front of BC. We waited approx 20 minutes each day we went to MK and AK. As for Epcot, we walked the whole whopping 10 minutes there, and took the boat to MGM. There is a walkway to MGM and I applaud you if you take it, lol, it is way too long for my taste.

On the boat ride home from MGM a week and a half ago, the boat driver was going Sooo slow, we all started wondering why, when all of a sudden, he stopped the boat and announced if we looked out the right side of the boat we could see the shuttle that was just launched. Pretty cool!

We have in the past rented a car at the airport. This past trip we used FL Tours, site sponsor, and they were great. We had a very large party, 10 people, and we went to DCL, and WDW. It came out to about what we would have spent on a rental car and it was great having someone take care of the luggage for us. Andy was our driver the entire time and he was always on time and greated us with a smile. We will be using them again next time.

I always rent a car to get back and forth from the airport, tour the area, go resort-to-resort. However, I also always use WDW transportation when traveling to and from the parks.

We always rent a car when we go to WDW.. We use the car to go everywhere. We even drive when we go to the theme parks.. I just like the freedom that having my own car affords me.. I guess I am impatient.. It is also very good to have a car if you plan on going from resort to resort since there tends to not be much transportation between the resorts themselves..

Well, seeing as though my wife makes us drive to WDW, we automatically have a car. It does come in handy for certain things (AKL for dinner as an example). Disney transportation is a great option for those late nights at The Adventurers Club!

Always rent car when we go.I like the freedom to come and go when I want.I have never been on the busses at WDW.If I want to ride on a bus I can do that here.I find nothing magical about it.The monorails and boats are great,but the busses detract from the whole feeling for me.

We always get a car but often use the bus service from BWV. We take off for SeaWorld and IOA but also use the car for shopping at Downtown Disney and supermarkets off-site .......

Other than the bus ride from the parking lot to the Hoop Dee Doo, I don't think I have been on a Disney bus more than once. Again, freedom. I will park at Epcot in the morning, monorail to MK, maybe eat breakfast at a monorail resort on the way or stop at one for dinner on the way back and then spend the evening at Epcot.

That is the extent to which we use Disney transportation.

Hey, smart woman!! I'm not getting on a plane either!!
We use our car to get around all over WDW. With the kids it seems easier (another reason to drive, saving on those car rental rates!).

We always fly down for now,so we always rent a car(National-Emarald Aisle)

.We like the freedom of resort hopping,off-site restraunts,DD,etc. We use the busses once in a while to go to the parks from OKW.

I have tried both methods and I prefer having a car available. I do not just do Disney when I go to Orlando so I prefer the mobility of having a car available. Personally, I felt like a hostage when I didn't have a car available. Don't misunderstand, I love being a member of the DVC, but, I also enjoy the greater Orlando area!

I guess it just depends on what you want to do. After all, it is your vacation and you control how much fun you have! What ever you decide, have fun. That's all that counts!

We use a towncar service to get to the resort.

Once in a while, we will rent a car, but only if we plan on doing something offsite.

On the rare occassions that we have a car, we never use it to go to the parks.

I always rent a car.

It serves so many purposes for me. Transportation to/from the airport, I can go grocery shopping offsite easily, travel to non-WDW areas, hop to/from parks whenever I please, etc.

We always rent a car when we go to Florida. In addition to the trip to and from the airport, we use it to resort hop for some meals, go to DTD and to grocery shop, drive to Celebration to eat, etc. However, we walk, boat, or bus to and from the parks.

We also drive to VB for a few days after our January trip and have been visiting relatives on the Gulf coast for a few days after our summer trip, so having the car available is a necessity for these trips.

We always rent a car because we like to go to the other resorts for dinner and Disney transportation does not work well for this purpose because of the transfers necessary.
