Do DVC members still get a discount at The Disney Store?

I just received my membership info for the Disney Club, and I'm kind of disappointed in what it has to offer. It seems the only plus over my DVC membership is the discount at Downtown Disney. Is it true that I still get the local Disney Store discount with my DVC card? I couldn't find that info on the DVC website. If so, I think I will cancel my DC membership. The only way to make it pay off is if I purchase over $300 worth of merchandise at World of Disney (or a few other DD stores), right? Am I missing anything? I ordered my passes from Ticketmania so I don't need the discount there, either.

The only reason I keep my DC membership is for the AP discount.
That more than pays for the annual membership fee. If you don't need AP's, you can probably live without it.

Granny took the words out of my mouth, the only reason we still purchase the DC is for the discount on the AP. If we could only get DVC to give us the same AP discount as DC, I wouldn't have to purchase the DC.

Thanks for the quick replies! I guess I will call up and cancel. I thought the card would also come in handy for room discounts if we wanted to add an extra night at one of the resorts, but it seems all they offer are packages, no room only discounts.

They still have room only discounts.

I actually like get Disney Magazine, and that justifies a fair chunk of the DC price. I use my DVC card for general DS discounts, but we have paid for our card with the park hopper discounts with DC and discounts at World of Disney.

I've been getting 20% off National Car Rental with Disney Club plus a free day. It was over $40 off on my last trip.

I found the national rental car discounts more then pay for our Disney Club membership.

Hmmmmm...perhaps I should put a little more thought into it, and not rush into canceling the membership. Thanks again for your help!:earsboy:

Our last trip saved $37 on the car rental.

Your DC card also functions as an Entertainment Card. We went to San Antonio in February and used the DC card to get a $300 per night room near the Riverwalk for $70 per night. If you are travelling other places besides Disney be sure to look for discounted room rates through the entertainment feature.

Did the National Car rental change its discount? I have looked on the website, and it states a discount of only 10%. Also, I just read on another forum that you got a free membership to the Emerald Club, or whatever it's called, but I don't see where that is offered either. Was it a while ago that you received 20% with the free day? I'm wondering if that used to be offered but is not anymore?

I got the free membership, the 20% off and the extra day about a month or so ago when I was makeing the reservations for my WDW trip in 11 days. It saved me $100 plus time that I will save not having to wait in line to do everything at the counter to rent the car. So it might have changed in the last month.

While the "official offer" is 10%, I have been getting 20% on the website (of course, that can change) Add the car rental discount to the DtD Merchandise discount and AP discount, and I come out way ahead.

We joined the Emerald Club thru DC and it is a time saver. You collect your luggage and go right to your car. I remember seeing the Emerald Club information in the last mailing from DC. If you don't have it, just call and ask for the special phone number to get the application.

For the National Car discounts just search on the DC site for National Car. Three offers will pop up. The free Emerald Club Membership ($50 value). The free weekend day coupon, and the contract ID to get the DC discount on the rental.

I use our DC for hopper discounts (this year AP discounts :D ), room only discounts on occassion when points are running low, National Car Rental and I also enjoy that Disney Mag too. Oh, I also use it as an Entertainment card for hotel stays throughout the year. I don't need it for the Disney Store since our DVC card works there, but as you see we use it quite a bit :)

I know some people think it is a poor value, but for my family it has paid for itself over and over again.

Thanks for the help! I finally found the right discounts for National on the DC website. :)
