Do DVC members often "trade" reservations?

The great thing about DVC seems to be that each and every resort has unique attractive features. Sadly, dw and I can't buy points at every resort, but we'd still like to try each one out some day. So, the question...

Do DVC members frequently "trade" making reservations with other DVC members? For example, if I own at BWV but would love to try an OKW GV, and someone else owns at OKW, but wants BWV standard view for Food+Wine, do members trade making reservations for one another at the 11 month mark, because these types of accomodations would require 11 month booking?

Transferring points seems like it would be best for this, but I've read elsewhere that transferring points runs the risk of the imperfect DVC software losing the original UY / location of the points.

Just curious whether people here have done this sort of thing.

Yes, it has been reported to have been done. I think the only reason to do this wouold be to get a difficult reservation unit or time at a non-home resort more than 7 months out. For example, if you wanted a GV at OKW in early Dec., you would probably have to do a trade like that to get it. If you waited until mid January, you might be able to get it on your own at the 7 month window.
